WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging app on both Android and iOS platform. The Facebook owned instant messaging service aims to provide easy user experience on both platform. Now, WhatsApp has started rolling out new features with its new version 2.21.71 for it’s iOS app. This new update will bring two major notable features. Additionally, These features will provide improvements in media viewing and changes in Disappearing Messages settings in WhatsApp.
Larger Media Preview Feature in WhatsApp
The company has started rolling out this new update version 2.21.71 in batches to avoid server congestion. The company confirms that all the iOS users will get this update on their devices in coming days. After getting this update, Users will be able to view larger images and video previews. This will allow users to view media content more quickly. Also, there will be no need to open the media file first. The other notable change with this update in WhatsApp will be Disappearing Messages settings. Also, This update will allow users in group to change disappearing Messages settings. This will be similar to what we do in group description.

Disappearing Message Feature in WhatsApp
To recall, Earlier, these Disappearing Messages were controlled by Group Admins in WhatsApp. Now, with this update all the group participants can change this setting themselves. Although, the update changelog suggest that admins will still have control over this feature. With the new update, Admin can still have complete control with himself by changing the Edit Group settings. To recall, this feature is already available on Android platform. Additionally, The larger media file preview feature is also available on Android platform.
What are Disappearing Messages?
Disappearing Messages are simple messages which can disappear from the chat box after seven days from being sent in WhatsApp. Beside text, this disappearing message can be anything like any media file including picture, video, audio etc. Any media file sent using this feature will also disappear for both sender and receiver after seven days. Also, The expiry period for the message is seven days, after this the message automatically disappears. By default this message setting is disabled in WhatsApp. To access, Disappearing Messages feature users need to first enable this feature. This feature is enable on a per group or per contact basis. To enable disappearing messages feature on WhatsApp follow the steps:
– Head into contact details of a specific person
– For Group, head into group info section
– Tap on disappearing message option
– new window will open
– enable the feature
