Couple of days back, Xiaomi has officially unveiled its first ever commercial phone with under-display camera technology. The all-new Mi MIX 4 comes with a new camera technology. Here, the front camera sensor is hidden under the display. Xiaomi calls this camera the “Camera Under Panel (CUP)”. Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 comes as the successor to the aging Mi MIX 3. The smartphone features a 108-megapixel triple rear camera setup.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 succeeds Mi MIX 3:
Beside the under the display camera sensor, the Mi MIX series device also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Additionally, the Xiaomi MIX series device also gets stereo speaker as well. The latest smartphone was launched alongside the all-new Mi tablet series. These Mi tablets come with the name of Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro. Beside these products, the Chinese company also launched the Xiaomi Sound smart speaker and the Mi TV Master 77-inch. Xiaomi also brings another Mi TV 6 OLED smart TVs.
Mi MIX 4 price and availability:
The all-new Mi MIX 3 successor comes with a starting price of CNY 4999 in China. The base variant of Mi MIX 4 gets 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is price at CNY 4999 which is approximately Rs 57400. The Mi MIX series device also gets another 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage variant. It comes with a price tag of CNY 5299 which is approximately Rs 60800. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant comes with a price tag of CNY 5799 which is approximately Rs 66600. The top-end variant comes with maximum 12GB RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. It is available with a price tag of CNY 6299 which is approximately Rs 72300.
Xiaomi launches the Mi MIX 4 in three colour options. These includes the Ceramic Black, Ceramic White and the all-new Ceramic Grey colours. Xiaomi has also confirmed that the device will be up for sale in China starting August 16. Meanwhile, the Mi MIX 4 is available for pre-bookings in Chinese market. Xiaomi did not reveal any details about the international availability of Mi MIX 3 successor.
Mi MIX 4: Specifications
The Mi MIX 3 successor runs on Xiaomi’s own custom MIUI Skin on top of Android 11 operating system. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ 10-bit TrueColor AMOLED display. This display gets a screen resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. Additionally, it gets a 120Hz screen refresh rate along with 20:9 aspect ratio. This is a curved display which comes with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. For safety, this display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Regarding hardware configuration, the Mi MIX 4 features an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC. This chipset comes alongside up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage. Xiaomi is offering a 4500mAh battery on this Mi MIX 3 successor. This battery capacity is also supported by up to 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Meanwhile, the smartphone weighs 225 grams.
The all-new Mi MIX 3 successor comes with a 108-megapixel triple rear camera setup. The 108-megapixel camera lens gets Samsung HMX sensor along with f/1.95 aperture. The primary camera also gets OIS support. The 108-megapixel main camera is accompanied by a 13-megapixel secondary sensor with a periscopic shaped telephoto lens. Moreover, this telephoto lens supports 50x zoom. The third camera gets an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter.
For selfies and video chats, the Mi MIX 4 uses a 20-megapixel under-the display camera sensor. Xiaomi gets this selfie camera with CUP technology. The camera also gets 400ppi pixel density. Xiaomi claims that this camera matches the pixel density, brightness and colour detail of the display. Therefore, this allows the display to hide the camera zone completely.
Regarding the connectivity options, the Mi MIX 4 comes with 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The Mi MIX 3 successor also gets Ultra-Wideband (UWB) support to offer precise spatial positioning capabilities. Additionally, for security, the Mi MIX 4 also gets an in-display fingerprint scanner.
