While reviewing the smartphone, the display quality is impressive. The colour reproduction on screen was close to accurate which is a good thing. It had adequate brightness to keep things visible in that dim environment. At the same time, it handled blacks well, with colour reproduction in dark or near-black scenes performing better than expected.

Furthermore, the 120Hz refresh rate made everything pretty smooth and fluid. Talking about the downsides, ultra high-dynamic range (HDR) is not available. HDR is also weak since the device does not natively support it. Also Read: Xiaomi reveals MIUI 12.5 roadmap for Redmi and Mi Devices

While there are good sides to the display, there are also a few downside. The fingerprint sensor is slightly slow and unrecognizable few times. The outdoor brightness of the display was fairly adequate. It was a bit of difficulty in looking at the screen during bright sunshine. This could be due to the absence of anti-glare screen on Lava Play Ultra 5G.
