For January 2021, The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has officially released it’s monthly report for telecom subscriptions. According to this report, Bharti Airtel has added 300% more wireless subscribers than the Reliance Jio in the month of January. The report shares that Bharti Airtel has added more than 5.89 million subscribers. Whereas, Reliance Jio has added only 1.95 million customers. However, Reliance Jio has still managed to lead with it’s highest overall subscription base across the country.
According to TRAI’s latest report, Currently, Reliance Jio has more than 410.73 million subscribers across the country. Reliance Jio holds the market share of more than 35%. Thus, Reliance Jio tops the list with maximum number of subscribers. Bharti Airtel follows Reliance Jio with it’s 344.60 million subscribers. Here, Bharti Airtel holds 29.62% of market shares. The third spot is obtained by Vi (Vodafone Idea). Vi managed to add more than 1.71 million subscribers in the month of January. Therefore, Vi has an overall subscriber base of more than 285.9 millions. The Government owned BSNL managed to add 81659 wireless subscribers. BSNL holds more than 118.69 million active subscribers.
Airtel Leads Monthly Growth Rate
According to monthly growth chart, Bharti Airtel leads the growth chart with more than 1.74% of growth. Reliance Jio follows Airtel, attained second spot with 0.48% of growth. However, Vi’s (Vodafone Idea) market share declines from 24.64% to 24.58% in the month of January. Wireless Subscribers : Data
The monthly telecom subscription report also highlights about the total increase in wireless subscribers within one month. As per report, the total wireless subscriber base in the country increased from 1153.8 million to 1163.4 million in the month of January. Thus, registering a growth rate of 0.84% in the month of January. The report also tells that the subscribers in Urban Areas increased more than subscribers in rural area. The Urban subscribers increased from 629.6 million to 634.9 million. Whereas, the Rural subscriber base increased from 524.1 million to 528.4 million. Similar to wireless subscribers, The Wireless Teledensity in the country increased from 84.9% to 85.5%.
Broadband and Wireless Subscribers: Data
The report also shares data about MNP(Mobile Number Portability) request. A total of 7.63 million request has been received in the month of January. For Broadband subscribers, The Reliance Jio leads the chart for Broadband Service providers. Jio leads in both fixed and wireless broadband subscriber count. Reliance Jio gets a total of 412.9 million subscribers with Broadband connectivity with both wireless and fixed connection holders. Bharti Airtel follows Reliance Jio with 184.6 million subscribers. The third and fourth spot is obtained by both Vi and BSNL with a subscriber count of 122.7 million and 26.6 million respectively. ACT Fibernet achieves fifth place with 1.8 million subscribers.
