Google, the American Tech Giant is reportedly working on its own chipset. This chipset is codename as “Whitechapel”. According to sources, this chipset is touted to power the upcoming Pixel smartphones. These devices are likely to carry the moniker Google Pixel 6 series. This report is share by 9to5Google. According to 9to5Google, this “Whitechapel” codename is use in relation to the codename “Slider”. This “Slider” is shared platform for the Whitechapel system on chip (SoC). According to leaked document, this chipset is also referred as “GS101”. In this codename GS is likely to refer to Google Silicon.

This “Whitechapel” chipset is a first step from Google towards independency. With this effort Google will reduce it’s dependency on third-party chipset makers like Qualcomm. Additionally, Google will create its own chipset line up. These chipset can power devices like upcoming Google Pixel 6 series and upcoming Chromebooks. This is a similar strategy that has been previously use by Apple, long time ago. Apple used their own ARM-Based chipset in iPhones and Macs. With their own chipset, Apple gets the best out of their own devices. All this happens because of its seamless integrations.
As per reports, Google has been working on these new chipsets in collaboration with South Korean tech giant, Samsung. To recall, Samsung manufactures chipset for itself and for other competitors too. Last year, Sundar Pichai, CEO Google tease that the company is planning for some deep investment in hardware. He also added that the company is planning to have a terrific roadmap ahead in 2021. Also, many investors and fellow supporters, who are closely following Google has confirmed that Google is working hard in developing their own processors for both upcoming Google Pixel 6 series devices and Chromebooks.

According to latest rumor, a new patent claims that the upcoming Pixel 6 series device is likely to feature an under-display selfie camera. However, this patent did not revealed any more details about this upcoming Pixel 6 series device. The upcoming Pixel 6 series is likely to feature 6-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. Additionally, The device is likely to come with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device is likely to run on latest Android 12 OS. This upcoming smartphone will pack a 4080mAh battery along with fast charging support.
