Apple is expected to announce this year’s iPhone 13, in second half of 2021. Tons of rumors and speculation are floating all over the internet. According to latest leaks, the 2021 iPhone is likely to re-introduce the Touch ID which was discarded four years ago. However, this will be in form of an in-display fingerprint scanner. Touch ID, is a kind of fingerprint scanner which is quite popular in the Android ecosystem since a long time.
Apple iPhone 13 with Touch ID + Face ID
According to leaks from Apple’s Former employee (via Wall Street Journal), The fingerprint Touch ID on the iPhone 13 could be integrate into the Cupertino Tech major. For security reasons, this feature will be add along with the patent iPhone Face ID. Using neural sensors and 3D Scanner, The Face ID tracks faces of people. The iPhone 13 is likely to come with an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.
The finger print sensor takes the image of the finger prints and uses light to print the image of the finger prints on the sensor. This will help to detect the finger print. Here, the light source can be the screen that lights up when the finger is place on the scanning area. Also Read: A higher capacity battery on iQOO 9
The fingerprinting on the optical display is not as effective as an ultrasonic scanner. It can be easily cracked and thus, it will raise certain security concerns. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors works by identifying a person’s fingerprint with sound waves and are consider as safer alternatives. Also Read: New Galaxy Smartphones on Samsung’s pipeline
How Touch ID works?
The former employee of Apple indicates that optical sensors could be safer than the ultrasound. This might be place to sort the security problems. This will make Apple’s current Touch ID as dependable as the previous one or perhaps equivalent to the Face ID. Apple could also use the optical-capacitive hybrid sensors which is combination of a capacitive sensor and an optical sensor.
The optical component will help to unlock the device more easily, while the capacitive part will give the whole device more security and safety.  Thus, by adding Face ID, Apple will make the safety factor far more better than the current iPhones. These current iPhones only uses facial recognition as biometric authentication. This would be marked as the rebirth of Touch ID, because for the type won’t be capacitive, which has been seen on previous iPhone models, including the iPhone SE 2020.

Whenever a situation arise where Face ID refuses to function, it can also prove beneficial. Such situations can include an extremely dark environment or even a place where you are wearing a mask during COVID pandemic. Since Face ID is good, we should expect something good with respect to Touch ID from the Apple basket.
