The OnePlus Nord 2T is a successor to the highly-popular OnePlus Nord 2. This OnePlus Nord 2 significantly improved over its original OnePlus Nord predecessor. Now, the Nord 2T 5G is a refreshed version of the Nord 2. Furthermore, it is the first smartphone to receive the “T” branding.
The Chinese smartphone makers have sprinkled a few minor upgrades in the new phone. These changes may not change the smartphone’s performance; meanwhile, these minor upgrades may offer qualitative improvements in terms of performance. Before going into the details, let’s unbox the all-new Nord 2T 5G smartphone.
OnePlus Nord 2T 5G: Unboxing
The One Plus Nord 2T comes inside the regular Black-themed box packaging, and the retail box packaging is the same as the OnePlus Nord 2. Meanwhile, we got the base variant of the Nord 2T with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.
The top of the retail box features the Nord branding in big and bold font. On the back side, we get all the details about the specifications and other manufacturing details along with the One Plus Nord 2T retail price in India. The sides of the retail box are empty.
On opening the retail box, we get a black-themed compartment with the OnePlus logo in the center. It includes a good quality OnePlus Nord 2T back cover case, which protects the device from any physical damage. Besides this, we get Nord stickers, documentation, and a SIM Tray ejector pin. Underneath this section, we get the Nord 2T 5G mobile unit.
In the bottom compartment, we get the OnePlus original red cable which is USB Type-A to USB Type-C. Finally, we get the 80W OnePlus SuperVOOC fast charger inside the box. This is a significant upgrade over the OnePlus Nord 2, which comes with a 65W rapid charger.
OnePlus Nord 2T: Physical Design
The latest Nord 2T 5G does not come with a 6GB RAM variant like the OnePlus Nord 2. As mentioned above, the One Plus Nord 2T 5G is the first-ever “T” model. Hence, the company does not offer a complete design overhaul. Although, the smartphone does get a matte-finished AG glass back panel. Additionally, the display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The in-hand experience of the OnePlus smartphone is quite premium. Even though the mid-frame comes with rounded corners and is made of polycarbonate material. Looks-wise, the phone appears and looks almost similar to the last year’s OnePlus Nord 2. Therefore, if you own a OnePlus Nord 2, we suggest you save money.

Alert Slider is present
Unlike the OnePlus 10R Endurance Edition, the all-new Nord 2T 5G retains the iconic OnePlus Alert Slider. This Alert Slider is present on the right-hand side. Furthermore, all buttons are in the exact location as on the OnePlus Nord 2 and are easily accessible.
In our experience, the one-handed usage of the OnePlus Nord 2T is quite comfortable because of its compact form factor. However, there is a slight change in the rear camera layout on the One Plus Nord 2T 5G. The camera module on the latest Nord 2T differs from the One Plus Nord 2.

Fairly capable camera with a new module
The triple rear camera sensors in the Nord 2T are placed inside the two circular cutouts. Furthermore, the camera module is slightly raised from the back body. The primary camera cutout accommodates a 50MP primary camera with a Sony IMX766 sensor. Additionally, the secondary cutout features an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 2MP monochrome camera. This 2MP camera also assists in the Portrait mode.

OnePlus Nord Phone Display Nails it
The display size on the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G is the same as the one already presented on the Nord 2. Furthermore, an optical fingerprint reader is also embedded in the display for device security. The One Plus Nord 2T 5G display also gets an HDR 10+ certification. For audio experience, the handset receives stereo speakers, which offer a good experience for watching videos.

Decent Performance with Dimensity 1300
Besides design and display, one of the significant upgrades on the Nord 2T 5G is the processor. This time the Chinese smartphone makers are using an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC. This processor is expected to bring some performance and imaging improvements. But, in comparison with MediaTek Dimensity 1200, these improvements are negligible.
To recall, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. This latest MediaTek chipset comes in pair with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage.

Battery with 80W fast charging gets the cake
The battery capacity on the latest Nord 2T 5G also remains the same. Like the OnePlus Nord 2, the latest Nord 2T 5G also packs the same 4500mAh battery. This time, OnePlus also included a quicker 80W fast charger in the box. During the launch event, OnePlus claims that this new OnePlus original charger can charge the Nord phone from 0 to 100 percent in just 27 minutes.

Clean UI with the latest Oxygen OS 12.1
The software experience is one of the biggest USPs of the OnePlus brand. The OnePlus Nord 2T 5G runs on the latest Google Android 12 with Oxygen OS 12.1. During our initial usage, the interface ran smoothly without any lag or frame drops. The most significant plus point is that the latest OnePlus Nord phone does not have much-preinstalled bloatware. The preinstalled apps include the regular Google apps, OnePlus apps, and Netflix.
OnePlus Nord 2T Competition
Talking about the competition in the Indian market, the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G also comes with the same Sony IMX766 primary sensor for a relatively nominal price. Similarly, the iQOO Neo 6 5G offers a 120Hz display and a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC with an 80W fast charging solution at a similar price point. It will also be interesting to see where the Nord 2T will stand in the Indian market.
Final Verdict: Is it worth buying?
With minor upgrades, the Nord 2T 5G has nothing much to offer compared to the OnePlus Nord 2. Meanwhile, the latest OnePlus Nord mobile phone won’t attract those many customers, especially the ones who already own OnePlus Nord 2.
For first-timers, the OnePlus Nord 2 could pose some good value-for-money offerings. The mid-range smartphone will offer the OnePlus software experience to first-timers. One Plus looks to have held back on the Nord 2T 5G’s enhancements, most likely to keep pricing low, but it’s also conceivable that the significant modifications are being saved for the Nord 3.
