Vivo V23 Pro First Impressions: A mid-ranger with several hardware upgrades

Vivo India recently launched its highly-anticipated Vivo V23 Series in India. The smartphone series features Vivo V23 and Vivo V23 Pro. Let’s take a look at the Vivo V23 Pro variant which comes with color-changing back panel.

Vivo V23 Pro and Vivo V23, the vanilla variant recently launched in India. The back design is the best thing that makes these smartphones stand on the top. The Chinese smartphone makers claims that this is the first smartphone series to feature handset with color-changing effects on the rear panel. In India, the tech giant launched two smartphones under this series, including Vivo V23 and Vivo V23 Pro.



Vivo V23 Series launched in India:

Vivo V23 Pro is an excellent mid-range smartphone. The Chinese smartphone makers brought back this “Pro” variant with this latest V23 Series. To recall, the tech giant skipped the “Pro” variant for the Vivo V21 Series. As Vivo V21 Series includes the Vivo V21 and the more affordable Vivo V21e. It has been more than a year since Vivo V20 Pro was launched. On the other hand, the Chinese smartphone makers are the title sponsor for the Pro Kabaddi League 2021. This year both HotStar and Star India are telecasting Vivo V23 Series advertisement during the commercial break for Pro Kabaddi 2021.

With the launch of V23 Pro, it is now official that the new smartphone features some new hardware and specs with a fresh design. At a starting price of Rs 38990, the all-new V23 Pro is one of the best premium mid-range smartphones with some exciting features. The all-new V23 Pro is certainly a good choice over the aging V20 Pro. This Vivo V20 Pro comes with a price tag of Rs 31800 in India.

The all-new V23 Pro comes in two colour options. These Vivo mobile colour includes the Stardust Black and Sunshine Gold colour. The Pro variant is available in two RAM and storage variants. Here, the base variant of V23 Pro includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The base variant of Vivo V23 Pro comes with a price tag of Rs 38990 in India. The top-end variant of V23 Pro features 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It comes with a price tag of Rs 43900.

The latest smartphone series is available on all leading online and offline retailers. As mentioned above, the Sunshine Gold color variant offers color-changing effect on the back panel.

Just like Vivo V21, the latest Vivo V23 Pro comes with a slim and premium-looking design. However, unlike the vanilla variant of V23, the Pro variant gets a polycarbonate frame instead of metal. However, the mobile phone makers stick with the glass back panel design. All this makes it feel quite premium with its matte texture. In Sunshine Gold color variant, with the gradient finish, the glass back appears to change the colour from gold to blue when viewed at different angles.

  • Design:

The all-new Vivo V23 Pro feel slim with 7.36mm thickness. The Vivo handset is quite light with 171 grams of weight. The Full-HD+ AMOLED display gets a medium sized notch to accommodate dual selfie cameras. Moreover, this display comes with curved edges on both left and right edges. The sides of the display glass curve into the frame and then meet the rear panel. Such design makes the phone appear very slim. Furthermore, the rear camera module on the smartphone protrudes by couple of millimeters.



MediaTek chipset on Vivo V23 Pro:

Under the hood, the Vivo V23 Pro packs in an 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. To recall, the same chipset is also present on the OnePlus Nord 2, the Poco F3 GT and the premium Vivo X70. The all-new V23 Pro supports dual-Nano SIM with dual 5G standby. Furthermore, there is no room for the microSD card slot. It is an Android based smartphone. Moreover, the complete hardware is backed by a 4300mAh battery along with 44W fast charger which comes inside the box.

108MP camera setup on Pro variant:

The medium-sized notch on the top of the display gets two front-facing cameras. On the front, the 50-megapixel primary camera is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. These camera sensors come in pair with two LED flash units. Furthermore, the LED flash is hidden under the thin bezel which is present on the either side of the camera setup.

For the rear camera, the Vivo V23 Pro comes with a triple rear camera setup which is placed inside a rectangular camera module. The 108-megapixel primary camera also comes with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

Vivo V23 Pro: Final Verdict

Just like the previous Vivo V Series models, the Vivo V23 Pro is a slim design and selfie-centric smartphone. This time the tech giant is offering more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1200 on the Pro variant. The addition of 108-megapixel rear camera setup makes things more interesting. Based on our experience, the all-new Vivo V23 Pro is definitely a better smartphone. Moreover, it offers better hardware and performance over its predecessor Vivo V20 Pro and the Vivo V21. The premium mid-ranger will also take on devices likes OnePlus Nord 2 and the Poco F3 GT. The latest Vivo smartphone runs on the custom FunTouch OS 12 skin which is based on Android 12 OS. Furthermore, It will be interesting to see how the Google Material You design will merge with the Vivo’s FunTouch OS in future.
