These days Asus is dominating the gaming smartphone space with its recently launched ROG Phone series. Recently, chipmaker Qualcomm reach out to the designers in Taiwan for a special gaming edition phone. According to recent leaks, China’s TENAA has recently revealed details about an upcoming Snapdragon edition gaming phone. The leaks suggests that the device is carrying an Asus branding at the back.
Asus Gaming phone with Snapdragon SoC:
As per teaser images, the device is likely to be toned down version with ROG Phone 5 like design. This upcoming Asus gaming phone will get toned down features. These features may include a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, a basic single-color design and a plastic build quality. According to images, the smartphone will feature a triple rear camera setup. Additionally, the device will get an old-school display with notably big bezels.
The main highlight of this upcoming Asus Gaming phone is the presence of Snapdragon branding with it. This is because the smartphone will carry the Snapdragon chip. According to reports, it is possible that Qualcomm might end up selling the gaming phone via its distribution network. Whereas, Asus could work on manufacturing and will provide after sales service or something similar like Google Nexus devices.
Asus Snapdragon Edition smartphone: Specs (Expected)
The TENAA listing also reveals some of the specifications of the upcoming mysterious Snapdragon based gaming smartphone. As per listings, the Asus gaming phone will feature a 6.7-inch OLED display. However, the listing does not reveal any other details like refresh rate and touch sampling rate. As per leaks, Asus will be using the Qualcomm premium flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC to power the gaming device. This will be unsurprising because Qualcomm will be showcasing its best chipset with this upcoming smartphone.
Regarding rest of specifications, the other specs will also be tone down in comparison to the ROG Phone 5. The Asus gaming phone will be packing in a much smaller 3480mAh battery. It may not feature a 6000mAh battery which we saw on ROG Phone 5 series. The smartphone will also get 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The gaming phone will be running on Android 11 OS. For camera configuration, the device could launch with a 64-MP main camera and a 12-MP ultra-wide camera.
Asus Gaming smartphone: Availability
Based on the leaks, it seems like this device will be limited to few countries. The smartphone will also be missing out on gaming extra features. These features can be shoulder triggers, vents for cooling system, ergonomic design and bigger battery. Based on leaks and rumors, this Asus Gaming phone could be the flagship killer Poco F1 for 2021. Currently, The Taiwanese smartphone markers are all set for the launch of Asus 8Z in India.
