Chinese smartphone brand Vivo returns as title sponsor for IPL 2021

On Wednesday, Vivo officially announced the return of the brand as the title sponsor for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 edition

On Wednesday, Vivo official announced the comeback of the brand as the title sponsor for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. To recall, Last year due to Galwan Valley conflict, Vivo was replaced by Dream 11 as the title sponsor for IPL 2020. Later same year, several Chinese apps including TikTok, PubG Mobile and others were also banned in the country. However, these apps are still unavailable in the country. But surely this is a good news for the Chinese Smartphone makers as they make their return as the title sponsor for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 edition.

The company also gave a press briefing in which they confirms that Vivo has retained their position of Title sponsors for IPL 2021 edition on same terms as previous deal. They also confirms that this shows the commitment of Vivo towards the Indian market. Due to Anti-Chinese sentiments in the country, last year The Chinese Smartphone markers Vivo was replace by Dream 11 as the title sponsor for IPL 2020. Dream 11 is an Indian Fantasy Sports Platform which is highly popular among Indian youth brigade. This year Vivo will be the title sponsor for this year’s edition of IPL. According to BCCI, The 2021 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on April 9th.

Vivo India also released a press statement about the upcoming edition of IPL 2021 stating that IPL is a highly influential game in India. They confirms that they are really excited to restore their partnership with this league. The company official also states that the game of Cricket has always unites the nation especially in country like India. As a brand our company focuses mainly on Indian Youth. Thus, IPL has helped us to connect with them in a more convenient way.

Vivo also confirms that this kind of Cricket league, especially IPL in 2021 is a kind of sports which binds the youth of the nation in such a pandemic situation. According to reports, Vivo holds 27% of market share in Indian smartphone market. The brand attains a growth of 10% since last year.

Vivo has already confirm about launching their five to six products in premium segment this year. According to sources, it is highly expected that Vivo could launch one or two products during IPL 2021 edition. The brand has also announced that they will be opening 150+ exclusive stores this year. Thus, taking total number to rise further by 650+. The company states that Vivo has always been a leader in Indian smartphone market. While 2020 was a difficult year for industries all around, but still Vivo has managed to follow its business strategy.
