Motorola Edge 2020 series comes with one of the most curved edge displays. To recall, the 2020 Edge series features two smartphone which was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic last year. Meanwhile, Motorola is now planning to bring the successor of this ageing series. According to leaks, the company is planning for some major upgrades in this upcoming smartphone series. As per recent leaks, Motorola is reportedly planning for an entirely new Edge series this year, which comes with 108-MP camera sensor. These smartphones will be launched across various price points.
According to reports, there will be three separate models with varying level of specifications. Currently, the design and renders of the upcoming smartphone series are unknown. But the report suggests for the chipset and camera details on this upcoming Motorola Edge series. The Motorola Edge 2021 series will feature camera centric models. These devices will include 108-MP camera sensor.
Motorola Edge 2021 series with 108-MP camera:
1. Edge Berlin:
One of the most mainstream models under Motorola Edge 2021 series, comes with a codename of the Edge Berlin. This device is likely to be available in two variants across different markets. The upcoming smartphone will get its power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chip. Additionally, this chipset comes in pair with multiple RAM/ Storage option. The Edge Berlin variant will get multiple RAM/ Storage option including up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. However, the camera configuration is likely to be different for different region. Although, according to reports, the device is likely to pack in a 108-MP camera sensor
According to reports, the Edge Berlin for European markets will feature a 108-MP Samsung HM2 sensor. Additionally, this 108-MP main sensor comes in pair with a 16-MP wide-angle lens from Omnivision. The third camera will feature another 8-MP Omnivision sensor with telephoto lens arrangement. For North American markets, the Motorola Edge smartphone will retain the 108-MP main camera sensor. However, the device will get a downgrade to 8-MP Ultra-wide Omnivision camera and a 2-MP depth Sensor. This Edge Berlin smartphone will be launching in three color options including Emerald, Stout (Brown) and White colors.
2. Edge Pstar:
The Edge Pstar is likely to be a high-end model. This is likely to be possible because of presence of “Kona” chipset. To recall, “Kona” is the codename for the Snapdragon 865 or the Snapdragon 870 chipset. It is highly strange that Motorola is skipping the Snapdragon 888 chipset for its top-end Edge series models. According to reports, the main rear camera setup will be similar to the Edge Berlin. This means that it will include a 108-MP Samsung HM2 S5KHM2 sensor as the main camera, accompanied by a 16-MP OV16A10 ultra-wide sensor/ macro lens and an 8-MP OV08A10 telephoto lens. For European market, the device will also get a 32-MP selfie camera. Whereas, the Chinese variant will support a 16-MP front camera. The smartphone with up to 12GB of RAM along with up to 256GB of internal storage.
3. Edge Kyoto:
The Edge Kyoto comes as one of the most affordable models in the 2021 Edge lineup. The details about the chipset on this variant is unknown. As for the camera details, the front camera will feature a 32-MP OV32B camera sensor. Additionally, the main camera system will support a 108-MP Samsung HM2 Sensor, an 8-MP S5K4H7 ultra-wide or Macro lens and an additional 2-MP OV02B1B depth sensor. The report about all these variants is reported by TechnikNews. Sadly, the TechnikNews did not reveal any further information about the launch date and other price details for these upcoming variants under Motorola Edge 2021 models.
