Reliance Jio has managed to top the 4G download speed charts for the month of May. According to data provided by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio tops the chart with an average download speed of 20.7 Mbps for the month of May.
As per previous results, Jio’s 4G download speed has marginally increased in May. Beside Reliance Jio’s download speed, Vi (Vodafone Idea) managed to record the highest upload speeds in the month of May. Vi reached a top upload speed of 6.3Mbps.
Jio 4G tops in Download, Vi tops in Upload Speed
As for the download speeds, Reliance Jio’s 4G Speed was over three times faster than the download speed of Vi. This 4G speed from Jio is even four times more than the download speeds of Airtel during the month of May. The download and upload speed data shared by TRAI has been fetched from the Government’s own MySpeed portal. This data comes on a real-time basis. Download Speed Chart: Analysis
During the month of May, Reliance Jio saw an increase in average 4G download speeds. The 4G download speed increased by 3 per cent. To recall, in the month of April, this average 4G download speed for Reliance Jio was 20.1 Mbps. On the other hand, Vi managed to grab the second spot. The Vi gets an average 4G download speeds of 6.3Mbps. Whereas, Airtel gets the third spot with an average download speed of 4.7 Mbps. According to data received from TRAI, this has been the lowest average speed from Airtel.
Upload Speed Chart: Analysis
Similarly for the upload speeds, Vi leads the upload speed chart with an average upload speed of 6.3Mbps. This is closely followed by Reliance Jio. Jio grabs the second spot with an average 4G upload speed of 4.2Mbps. Just like the download speed chart, here also Airtel gets the third spot. Airtel gets an average upload speed of 3.6Mbps. Beside Jio, this is first time when TRAI has provided the clubbed data for Vi since the merger between Vodafone and Idea back in August 2018. Earlier, the data was recorded separately for both Vodafone and Idea on its MySpeed portal. The State-owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has already rolled out its 4G services in select areas. However, it did not manage to make the network speed chart of TRAI.
