Asus ROG Phone 5 spotted on GeekBench

Asus ROG Phone 5 (unofficial name) has been reportedly spot with a number of its specs on the Geekbench listing. The phone will be successor to the Asus ROG Phone 3. Apparently the Taiwanese company will miss the moniker ROG Phone 4 – a common practice in China. Some of the specs of ROG Phone 5 have been leak previously too.

The alleged Geekbench listing shows the ROG Phone 5 will come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. However, The remaining specifications will not deviate from the older ROG Phone 3. Also, Asus has not yet provided any information in regards to the next ROG phone.

The device was first spotted by a known tipster Abhishek Yadav on Twitter. The Gadgets 360 has also verified he Asus phone with a model number ASUS_I005DA on GeekBench. It is assumed that this model number is related with Asus ROG Phone 5. A recent Geekbench list now suggests that Asus is testing the device with 16GB RAM.

Earlier, we have seen an 8GB RAM model of Asus on GeekBench list. Now, this high-end 16GB RAM variant has visited the benchmarking site and thrown up some exciting scores. The 16GB RAM model got a score of 1131 for single-core performance. Whereas, in multi-core performance the device got a score of 3729. Additional information confirms that device will run on Android 11 out of the box.

Asus ROG Phone 5: On MIIT and TENNA

Earlier this month, The ROG Phone 5 was allegedly listed on various mobile certification websites including MIIT and TENAA. The MIIT listing for the alleged Asus ROG Phone 5 confirms

  • a 6.78-inch display
  • 6,000mAh battery
  • 172.834×77.252×10.29mm as the dimensions.
  • support for 5G networks courtesy Snapdragon 888 SoC

On the other hand, the TENAA listing shows images of the front and back panel of the phone hinting at a 64-MP triple rear camera setup. The phone allegedly comes with a a dot matrix panel on the back that shows the ROG logo. The front panel picture is not really clear and so the selfie camera set-up is difficult to identify.

Furthermore, The ROG Phone 5 with the model number ASUS_I005DA, was also spotted on 3C certification website. The 3C listing shows a 65W fast charging support. This will be a notable upgrade as previous generation model comes with older 30W charging system for many years now.
