The New Income Tax website launched few days back on June 7 2021. Since the launch, there seems to be some issues and glitches on the website. There have been multiple complaints about the same from the Taxpayers. The Taxpayers are complaining about the issues with new ITR website. Recently, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also took on Twitter for the same. She retweeted a tweet from a taxpayer. In this tweet She added “Hope @Infosys and @NandanNilekani will not let down our taxpayers in the quality of service being provided.”

New Income Tax website not working properly:
Earlier, a taxpayer who is a Twitter user took it on the microblogging website. He highlighted that the new Income Tax website is giving login issues. The user tweeted that “@IncomeTaxIndia @nsitharaman Cannot login to New Income Tax Site. Issue with site or issue at my end?”. Soon after this tweet, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman retweeted this tweet. In her Tweet she said that the much-awaited e-filing portal 2.0 was launched at 20:45PM on June 7, 2021. She received a lot of complaints on here timeline about grievances and glitches. Within this same tweet she asked @Infosys and @NandanNilekani to not let down the taxpayers in the quality of service being provided. She advocated for ease in compliance for the taxpayers.
After this tweet, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani took on the Twitter platform and replied to the FM’s Tweet. He said that the new e-filing Income Tax website will ease the filing process and enhance the end user experience. Additionally, He added with respect that Nirmala Sitharaman Ji, we have observed some technical issues on day one. The company is working on resolving them. He further adds that the Infosys regrets for these initial issues and glitches. He expects the system to get stabilize within a week.
Error on New ITR 2.0 website:
As mentioned above, the new Income Tax website was launched on June 7 at 8.45PM. However, unfortunately within an hour the website started throwing some issues. We also tried to check the new website. Also, we tried to logging in. However, we were unable to do so. The website shows an error message that “This site can’t be reached. eportal.incometax.gov.in unexpectedly closed the connection”. Being an Indian Government website, it is expected that the Income Tax department will resolve the issues soon. It will also offer the promised “user-friendly” and “seamless” experience to the taxpayers.
As mentioned in our previous post, the new ITR e-filing 2.0 portal has replaced the old website. The main objective behind launching this new Income Tax website is to provide users with a clean and seamless user experience. At the launch, the Income Tax Department said, ” We are proud to present our valued taxpayers, the new e-filing portal. Also, this new portal is design for users convivence. The new portal will also offer features that will make e-filing experience smoother, simpler and smarter. The main objective behind this new portal is to provide a single-window to all the income tax related services. It will provide ease for all the taxpayers and other stakeholders.
