Income Tax website gets errors and glitches in its initial days: FM asks Infosys to fix issues

The New Income Tax website is not working properly. The website is showing some login errors and many other glitches. Finance Minister asks Infosys co-founder to get this issue fixed.

The new Income Tax website went live on June 7, 2021 in India. However, it has been plagued with glitches and issues ever since. Taxpayers have complained about a variety of problems, including:

  • Slow loading times
  • Difficulty logging in
  • Errors while filing returns
  • Missing data

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has taken to Twitter to address the issue, retweeting a tweet from a taxpayer and adding “Hope @Infosys and @NandanNilekani will not let down our taxpayers in the quality of service being provided.”

Some glitches and issues has been raised by taxpayer on Twitter. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asks Infosys and Nandan Nilekani to fix them

A taxpayer on Twitter raised concerns about login issues on the new Income Tax India website. The taxpayer’s tweet was retweeted by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who asked Infosys. Nandan Nilekani, the company and CEO that developed the website, to fix the issues and ensure that taxpayers do not face any inconvenience.

Sitharaman also highlights that the new e-filing portal 2.0 went live on June 7, 2021. Furthermore, She adds to receieve some complaints about grievances and glitches. She advocated for ease in compliance for taxpayers.

Nilekani also said that the new e-filing website will ease the filing process and enhance the end user experience. He reiterated Infosys’ commitment to providing taxpayers with a smooth and efficient experience.

The new Income Tax website, went live on June 7 at 8.45PM. The new website goes live with issues since its launch. Taxpayers have reported being unable to access the website or facing errors when trying to open pages.

Unable to access new Income Tax website, receive error message “This site can’t be reached. eportal.incometax.gov.in unexpectedly closed the connection”

We tried to access the new Income Tax site and log in, but we were unable to do so. While checking we received an error message that said “This site can’t be reached. eportal.incometax.gov.in unexpectedly closed the connection.”

We expect that the Income Tax department will resolve these issues soon and offer the promised “user-friendly” and “seamless” experience to taxpayers.
