Qualcomm has quietly launched the new Snapdragon 782G processor, a premium mid-range chipset for upcoming Android devices. The Snapdragon 782G is the successor of the popular 778G+, which was released last year. The new Snapdragon processor is made on a 6nm process by TSMC and offers minor improvements over its predecessor. The Snapdragon 782G chipset is yet to be used by any smartphone makers, and no official timeline has been announced for its availability in the market.
Snapdragon 782G launched
The Snapdragon 782G processor has an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz. It also has an Adreno 642L GPU with a frequency of 950 MHz. This processor also supports dual SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and other connectivity options. The chipset can handle up to a 192-megapixel single camera or a dual 36-megapixel camera setup. It also supports a display resolution of up to 2520×1080 pixels with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. What’s New on latest processor
The Snapdragon 782G processor is designed to deliver high performance and power efficiency for gaming and entertainment on Android devices. The chipset also supports Qualcomm’s AI Engine, which can perform up to 15 TOPS of AI tasks. The chipset also supports Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6900 system, which can provide up to 3.6 Gbps of peak Wi-Fi speed and Bluetooth audio features, such as aptX Adaptive and Qualcomm Broadcast Audio.

According to some benchmarks, such as AnTuTu and Geekbench, the Snapdragon 782G processor performs better than the MediaTek Dimensity 920 and the MediaTek Dimensity 810 but worse than the Samsung Exynos 1080 and the Samsung Exynos 980. Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G: New premium mid-range chip

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor features a Kryo 670 Prime core with a clock speed of up to 2.7 GHz. The chipset is paired with an Adreno 642L GPU. Qualcomm claims that this Adreno GPU is up to 10 percent faster than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 778G+. For image processing, the latest chipset features the Qualcomm Spectra 570L, a triple 14-bit ISP. It is capable of capturing photos at gigapixel speeds.

In terms of features, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor offers improvements to the Qualcomm Kryo CPU and Qualcomm Adreno GPU. The latest Qualcomm chipset has been developed using the same 6nm process used for last year’s Snapdragon 778G+. The all-new Snapdragon 782G also gets Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology. Camera Features
Furthermore, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor also supports intelligent camera features like low-light video, smooth zoom, and autofocus. Connectivity
Regarding connectivity, the Snapdragon 782G processor is a 5G-enabled chipset. For 5G connectivity, the latest processor gets the Snapdragon X53 5G Modem-RF System. Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G Architecture
Talking about the specifications, the latest Snapdragon 782G is identical to the previous generation Snapdragon 778G+ SoC. The significant difference is that the new chipset comes with a solo high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 core with a max clock speed of 2.7 GHz. Additionally, three Cortex-A78 cores are clocked at 2.2 GHz. Furthermore, there are four Cortex-A55 cores with a maximum clock speed of 1.9 GHz.
The newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G also gets the Qualcomm AI Engine and Qualcomm Hexagon processor in its core. The latest Snapdragon 782G chipset supports a Full-HD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate. This Snapdragon processor can support up to a 4K external display at 60 fps. Qualcomm says these changes can help features like AI-based activity monitoring, audio enhancement, and background noise cancellation. Newer Qualcomm Snapdragon X53 Modem
The new Snapdragon chipset gets the latest X53 modem, which offers faster 5G connectivity. It also gets Bluetooth v5.2 for other wireless accessories connectivity. 200MP Camera Support
The all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor offers support for a single camera sensor of up to 200 MP. This is possible because of the Qualcomm Spectra triple 14-bit ISP, which comes in this chipset. This Snapdragon chipset also gets HDR10 and HDR10+ recording capabilities. It can record at up to 4K 30fps. Furthermore, it can also record slow-motion video at 720p 240fps. The capability to capture HDR HEIF photos with 10-bit color depth is handy for still photography.
Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+
Like the Snapdragon 778G+, the latest Qualcomm 782G also gets Quick Charge 4+ support. The chipset makers claim it can take the battery from 0 to 50 percent in just 15 minutes. This mainly depends upon the internal cell size. Although there are no details about the Qi wireless charging on this processor model. The California-based semiconductor company has yet to specify when the new Snapdragon 782G SoC will be available in smartphones. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, likely to power smartphones in the premium-midrange market, is yet to be revealed by the company.
