Qualcomm is one of the biggest chipset makers in the world. The company launched its premium flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC in December, 2020. Now, This Snapdragon 888 is powering all the flagship Android Smartphones in the world. All the smartphones running on Snapdragon 888 SoC, have been providing unmatched performance. However, Qualcomm is still not satisfied at all. According to rumors, the chip makers has started working on a beefed-up version of the Snapdragon 888 Chipset. This new upcoming chip will be dubbed as Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Pro. As per leaks, the chipset is already under testing phase.
The all new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Pro is likely to be an overclocked version of the vanilla Snapdragon 888 SoC. This report is share by Digital Chat Station. According to Digital Chat Station, the latest chip could either get higher frequency or increased clockspeed. The tipster also reveals that the latest chip could debut in between July and September. This chipset will not be as exclusive as the previous version of boosted Snapdragon chipset.
Qualcomm and its overclocked Processors:
Qualcomm is professional in quietly releasing the updated version of its previous generation chipset. This will allow an increase in demand in high-performance smartphone category. To recall, the previous launched, Snapdragon 821 and Snapdragon 855 Plus are live examples of updated chipsets with increased clockspeeds. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 has also been a boosted version of Snapdragon 865 SoC. Also, The Snapdragon 870 comes with an overclocked 3.2GHz Kryo 585 performance core. These days most of the OEMs are releasing premium smartphone with Snapdragon 870 chip. To recall, recently launched, Vivo X60, The Vivo X60 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 11X, OnePlus 9R and the IQOO 7 are powered by this overclocked Snapdragon 870 chip.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Pro: In Making
Meanwhile, The latest Snapdragon 888 Pro is highly likely to be use on upcoming gaming smartphones. Various OEMs like OnePlus, Xiaomi could use this Snapdragon 888 Pro chip on their upcoming flagship smartphones releasing in Q4,2021. Qualcomm received a lot of complaints about heating issue on Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip. According to Digital Chat Station, the upcoming Snapdragon 888 Pro chip could also face similar issue. Presently, there are very few number of Snapdragon 888 based smartphones available in India. These Snapdragon 88 based smartphones are The OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9, Vivo X60 Pro+, Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, and iQOO 7 Legend. On the other hand, MediaTek is also giving tough competition to Qualcomm. As the company has announced its latest flagship 5G Chipset for premium smartphones in India. Also, The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC is likely to power some upcoming premium smartphones in India. The chipset is capable of providing dual 5G connectivity. According to reports, the performance of the upcoming Dimensity 1200 SoC is almost comparable to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip.
