In 2022, Apple iPhone is likely to get a 48-MP main rear camera sensor with an ability to shoot 8K videos. The Mini variant will come to an end.

The iPhones could never win the megapixels war. However, with its excellent image quality it can surely impress all the critics all around the world. According to latest report, Apple is likely to up the megapixels count on next year’s iPhone models. The Cupertino Tech Major is planning to bring 8K video recordings. As the company is following it’s top of the line premium modern day rivals from Android platform. The report also suggest that the Mini variants of iPhone 14 will not exists from 2022. According to this report from 9to5Mac, Ming-Chi Kuo, the famous Apple Analyst confirms that Apple is planning to bring high-resolution 48-MP main rear camera sensor on it’s upcoming iPhone 14 2022 lineup. This will be the big upgrade from 12-MP camera sensor. To recall, the current generation of iPhone 12 lineup uses 12-MP camera sensor. Most of the current generation Android phones are relying on 108-MP main camera sensors.

iPhone 14 to get big camera upgrade:

Ming-Chi Kuo confirms that the 48-MP camera sensor is most likely to come with the Pro models of iPhone 14 2022 series. The standard iPhone 14 models will continue with 12-MP camera sensor. He did not mentioned anything about the ultra-wide and telephoto camera sensors. Therefore, it does confirm that the 48-MP sensor will be exclusive to the main camera only.

He also share info about some of the likely features to follow these upgrade cameras on iPhone 14 2022 series. According to Kuo, the iPhone 14 is also likely to get 8K video recording support for all the iPhone models. This 8K video recording feature has been around on premium Android smartphones since 2020. The Android phone that runs on Snapdragon 865 chip and newer chip supports 8K video recording. Another report suggest that Apple is likely to reserve the Periscopic Zoom camera upgrade for 2023 iPhone models. Apple is also working on under the display Face ID system. Thus, it will allow Apple to reduce the size of display notch further.

Mini variant to exit in 2022:

Adding to his report, Kuo also shares that Apple is planning to kill the Mini variant of iPhone 14 in 2022. The company is planning to end it’s production following lesser demand for the compact model. As posted earlier, the iPhone 12 Mini lacks to impress the customers worldwide. Also, Apple saw customers picking up the standard iPhone 12 variant. Kuo shares that iPhone 13 series will feature an iPhone 13 Mini this year. However, it is likely that Apple will manufacture it in limited quantities.

With it’s iPhone 14 lineup, Apple will retain four models in different sizes. According to reports, there will be a regular iPhone 14 variant in two sizes, 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch.
