The all-new Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G is the newest member in the company’s signature number series. Given its pricing, it appears that the company has left the market for budget smartphones. The Chinese smartphone makers are targeting the competition in the mid-range segment. Even though, the 10 Pro Plus does offer an excellent set of specifications. But, it still lags behind the rest of the competition.

Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G: Design

Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G mobile looks pretty solid at first look. Luckily, we got our first hands on the Starlight Colour variant. At first look, the 10 Pro Plus back looks shiny along with some star-like dust particles. These dust particles glow with a dazzling effect when placed in direct light. The back panel feels a bit glossy.

  • Back Panel

With its glossy nature, the Realme 10 Pro Plus back case will attract a lot of fingerprint smudges. These smudges could feel a bit irritating, as we have to keep on cleaning them now and then. I did not like such glossy design this much, but it depends from person to person. Also to mention, these glossy shimmering back panel comes with a plastic build. It looks premium but not when held in hands. The frame also gets plastic with curved edges. We can grasp the smartphone because of its rounded corners.

  • Rear Camera setup

We can see the dual camera module in the top left corner. The camera module protrudes a little. Although, there is no distinct camera module to enclose the Realme 10 Pro Plus camera setup. For camera module alternate, the company offers two large rings around camera sensors. Due to this, the Realme 5G mobile phone will wobble when kept on a flat surface. At the bottom of the back panel, there is Realme branding as well. The in-hand feel is excellent.

  • Physical Buttons placement

With 7.78mm thickness and 173 grams weight. The 10 Pro Plus 5G does not feel bulky. I felt the weight distribution is good. The new Realme 5G phone is well-balanced. For ports and buttons, the power button and volume rockers are present on the right edge. The left side is completely clean. The top edge gets the secondary speaker along with a secondary noise-cancellation microphone.

The bottom edge packs the primary speaker and a Dual-SIM card slot. Additionally, it gets a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The complete design of Realme 10 Pro Plus is good. It doesn’t feel hefty with its big display and battery. Although, Realme has made some cost-cutting with its plastic build. Also Read – Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus price in India; S21 FE vs S22 Plus

Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G Display

The display is one of the major highlighting features of the 10 Pro Plus. The new 5G phone from Realme features a massive 6.7-inch Full-HD+ curved AMOLED display. This Full-HD screen comes with a 120Hz refresh rate. On top of this, the display gets a peak brightness of 800 nits. Although, my in-hand experience is somewhat different. The display on my unit is not as bright as other smartphones in this price range.

In this price range, many smartphone models offer a peak brightness of 1000 nits and above. Meanwhile, the indoor lighting condition improves the display. Under bright sunlight, the Realme 10 Pro Plus display is a little too dark. I struggled while reading the content on the screen.

  • Other Display features

With capabilities like HDR 10+ and a 5000000:1 contrast ratio. The screen itself provides users with a great viewing experience. In my usage, I was quite enthralled by the dynamic range and color accuracy. The manufacturers are bringing a few features that are firsts for the company also. These features are debuting with launch with 10 Pro Plus 5G. Also Read – Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Plus, Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Specs; Mi Pad 5 vs Mi Pad 5 Pro vs Mi Pad 5 Plus

Here, the new Realme 10 Pro Plus gets 2160Hz PWM dimming. This feature is likely to maintains more accurate colors at low brightness levels. X-Touch Algorithm is another new feature on the Realme 10Pro Series 5G smartphone. To reduce accidental touches on the display, the company did some rigorous adjustments. Additionally, the 10 Pro Plus 5G has very few unintentional touches. These touches may rise with the launch of the curved screen smartphone.

  • TUV Rheinland Certification on Realme Phone

The display on the latest 10 Pro Plus is way more vibrant because of the presence of Hyper-vision Mode. This mode offers both Video Color Boost and Video HDR Boost. Realme claims that they have invested over 15 million USD in the development of such display. By far, this is one of the best displays on any smartphone under Rs 30000. Additionally, the Realme 10 Pro Series 5G Smartphone will have the first OLED Display. This display gets the TUV Rheinland Flickr Free certification.

  • Curved AMOLED display

The curved AMOLED display is what I liked about this 5G smartphone. Realme deserves praise for including a curved AMOLED display. Such displays are common for smartphones costing well over Rs 40,000. The Realme 10 series smartphone looks better thanks to its curved AMOLED display. It improves the complete viewing and multimedia experience for the users. On this Curved AMOLED display, the fingerprint scanner works perfect.

  • Display Quality

For display quality, the Realme 10 Pro Plus display is crisp, clear, and vivid. The blacks are natural and deep, all thanks to its excellent Super AMOLED display. The viewing angles on 10 Pro Plus 5G are also great. I enjoyed watching YouTube videos and other OTT videos for a couple of hours. The presence of a 120Hz refresh rate makes everything ultra smooth and buttery.

I didn’t notice any stuttering when I scrolled through my Facebook, and Twitter feeds. I want to say that my screen experience was excellent with Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G smartphone. In conclusion, the company did a perfect job with the new 10 Pro Plus display. The only thing I wish was that the display was a little brighter under sunlight.

Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G Phone Performance and Software

The Chinese smartphone makers never disappoint in the performance department. The company is powering the Pro Plus version of Realme 10 Pro Plus with a Mediatek Dimensity 1080. This chipset pairs with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.

The 6nm manufacturing process is the template for the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC. This processor is only a slight bump over the Mediatek Dimensity 1000 processor. In my day-to-day usage, I did not notice any major performance issue. Moreover, I did not face any major lags or shutters.

  • RAM Expansion Feature on Realme Phone

The 120Hz high refresh rate makes the display feel smooth and buttery. The RAM management is also decent enough. The app remains in background for longer than anticipated while switching between apps. Realme 10 Pro Plus also comes with a RAM Expansion feature. This feature will further add up to 3GB of RAM by using internal storage. This feature doesn’t make any noticeable difference in day-to-day performance of the smartphone.

  • Benchmarking Score

With up to 12GB of RAM, app opening is quick. Multitasking was easy. I had no trouble switching between apps. For benchmarking results, the Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G has a score of about 5 million on AnTuTu. While on Geekbench, the multi-core score in 2384. • Gaming Review

I played games on the Realme 10 Pro Plus for a while, including Call of Duty Mobile, Asphalt 9, and even New State Mobile. All these games run on default settings. I tested that both Call of Duty and New State Mobile games can run on Medium to High settings also. Yet, One should still turn down the visuals option for a better user experience.

At the same time, Asphalt 9 operated without latency or other problems. As for the software, the Realme 10 Pro Series 5G smartphone boots on Android 13 OS out of the box. The smartphone runs on RealmeUI 4.0. Also Read – Realme smartphone with RMX3471 model name; Realme 9 Pro launch date in India

Realme 10 Pro Plus Camera

The triple rear camera setup on the 10 Pro Plus includes a 108MP primary camera. The secondary 8MP ultrawide angle lens accompanies a 2MP macro sensor. For snapping selfies and conducting video calls, a 16MP camera sits on top of front display.

Realme has improved its primary camera on the 10 Pro Plus from a 50MP camera on the Realme 9 Pro Plus to a 108MP camera. But, there are some shortcomings also. The Realme 9 Pro Plus 50MP camera comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Whereas, the OIS feature is missing on the 10 Pro Plus 5G smartphone.

  • Primary Camera

I noticed while taking regular shots, the pictures are a little bit more detailed. In broad daylight conditions, the primary camera can take some excellent shots. The images look well-detailed and sharp. Even the color looked more punchy and boosted. The dynamic range was also good. All thanks to its 9:1 pixel binning, the primary 108MP camera can offer some crisp 12MP shots. The Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G will attract hardcore photographers and filmmakers.

It was surprising for me how well the Realme 5G smartphone can replicate real-life colors. In my experience, the shutter speeds were never an issue on my handset. The exposure control is also decent on the primary camera. The primary camera’s photos turned out to be decent.

In Low-lighting conditions, the image quality falls. The shots taken in low light were average. Due to missing OIS features, there are a lot of noise grains in the pictures. Yet, with Night Mode, we can get a little more details than most of the other smartphones in this price range.

Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G vs Google Pixel 6a 5G: Camera Sample Comparison
  • Secondary Camera

The secondary 8MP ultra-wide angle camera can also take some decent shots. The shots offer good details and clarity. The secondary sensor prefers tones that are a little warmer. Furthermore, it does not even compensate very well for sunlight. Although, the quality of the images is not as much fine as the primary lens. Yet, the dynamic range was good and the color accuracy is fine.

  • Macro Camera

In my experience, I don’t know why Realme ends up putting this low-resolution 2MP camera. To be quite honest, there isn’t much to say about this 2MP macro sensor. If there is enough lighting in the area, you could take some average pictures. Furthermore, your hands need to be super steady while clicking these images.

  • Front Camera

The 16MP selfie camera can take some excellent selfies in daylight conditions. The selfies appear to be sharp and well-detailed. The fixed focus camera can give us plenty of details. The skin tones were natural. Although, in some cases, I did notice some facial over-sharpening. There is some noise in the images as well. Apart from this, the device can churn out some respectable shots.

  • Video Quality

Finally video quality, the Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G phone can shoot videos on all the sensors apart from the macro. The main camera is capable of recording 4K videos at up to 30fps. It can also record 1080p (Full-HD) videos at both 30fps and 60fps. The selfie camera and the ultra-wide angle camera are capable of 1080p recording at 30 fps. Luckily, we can make use of Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). FYI, EIS also works only at 1080p and 720p modes at 30fps.

Realme 10 Pro Plus Battery and Charging Speed

The 10 Pro Plus comes with an upgraded battery of 5000mAh capacity. To recall, the Realme 9 Pro Plus features a 4500mAh battery. With a bigger capacity battery, normal users can get up to two days of battery backup. At the same time, heavy users would need to charge their smartphones every day.

In my personal experience, the Realme 10Pro Plus offered me around six hours of screen time. I used it to watch videos on YouTube, scroll through Facebook, and Twitter feeds. Took some photographs, send a few messages. The chipset utilized in this handset improves battery life, which is perfect. Realme’s user interface and Android OS have also been improved.. Thus, enabling this 10 Pro Plus to provide outstanding battery life.

Realme has once again amazed me by providing the 67W rapid charging option for the in-box charger. This 67W fast charger is a SuperVOOC wired charger. My unit charge from 0 to 100 percent in less than an hour. The 67W Quick charger charged the battery from 0 to 50 percent in 23 minutes.

Realme 10 Pro+ Connectivity

Realme 10Pro Series 5G phone comes with 5G connectivity. It sports 8 5G Bands. These include N1, N3, N5, N8, N28, N40, N41, and N78. The smartphone also gets other connectivity options like WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and NFC. Additionally, it also gets a USB Type-C 2.0 port. At a distance of 500 meters from a tower, obscured by buildings and greenery. I attained 400-500 MBPS during my 5G testing.

The smartphone comes with an optical in-display fingerprint scanner for device authentication. In my experience, it was both quick and trustworthy. I can also use the face unlock feature to unlock my device. Meanwhile, I feel the face unlock feature is less secure.

  • Audio

Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G Phone features a dual stereo speaker setup. One of the speakers sits on the top of the display while the other is at the bottom edge. Meanwhile, both speakers performed well. The sound output was powerful and clear. I don’t know why Realme has decided to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack. Although, it seems to be a downgrade from last year.

  • Other features

I like the Dual Mode music, Sleep Capsule, and Heart Rate Monitoring, among the other features. Although, we cannot trust these readings. When we take a screenshot in WhatsApp, the device masks sensitive information. This is another reliable function I value.

Talking about the negative points, the Realme 10Pro Plus 5G comes with a ton of bloatware. Meanwhile, this bloatware includes apps that I don’t recommend to anyone. Luckily, we can uninstall these unwanted apps as these apps are unsafe for our mobile phones. Furthermore, it is much easier than turning off the notifications from these apps.

Final Verdict

In conclusion, the Realme 10 Pro Plus seems to be a reliable phone with a strong lineup of features. Meanwhile, the 5G phone includes many features that are often seen on the higher mid-range mobile phones. The Curved AMOLED display and its quality are the primary selling points for this phone. Additionally, the 120Hz fast refresh rate offers buttery and smooth viewing experience.

This 5G phone won’t slow when doing daily chores thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 CPU. The bigger battery and 67W SuperVOOC charging guarantee speedy charging of the handset. Furthermore, this smartphone can charge in under an hour. Meanwhile, no other smartphone in the Rs 20000 to Rs 30000 price range, can match the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G’s performance.

Curved AMOLED display and its quality are the primary selling points for this mobile phone
The Curved AMOLED display and its quality are the primary selling points for this 5G mobile phone

As mentioned above, the company is offering this Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G at an highly competitive price point in India. The in-hand feel of the Realme 10 series 5G phone is also decent. Of course, no device is perfect. Realme 10 Series 5G phone also gives me the same impression. Realme could have utilized a better ultra-wide angle camera. Additionally, the UI could be cleaner. Furthermore, I wish the Chinese smartphone manufacturers had taken some action against the bloatware.

  • Pros

  1. Gorgeous display
  2. Pleasing design
  3. Good low-light photography
  4. Long battery life
  • Cons

  1. Ultra-wide shooter not up to the mark
  2. Bloatware
