Realme GT 2 Fold, the company’s first foldable concept in works

Realme GT Fold 2 could be the company’s first foldable smartphone. The concept image for this upcoming foldable phone already spotted on the internet.

Realme is currently focusing on providing its customers with best specifications at a range of price points. Recently, Realme launched its premium smartphone Realme GT Neo 2 in India and other global markets. Now, the Chinese smartphone makers has officially confirmed about its plans to enter in the ultra-premium mobile phone segment. According to leaks, Realme is planning to launch one smartphone in ultra-premium segment. This could be a foldable phone with a price tag of around Rs 60000.

Realme GT 2 Fold: Render Leaks

On the other hand, a recent report suggests that Realme’s first foldable smartphone and an under-display camera phone could launch next year in 2022. Moreover, the company has not revealed any information about its foldable device. So far, Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi are the only well-known brands that have launched smartphones with foldable displays.

Recently, a member of Realme Design Studio has shared concept image of the Realme Folding smartphone. This upcoming foldable device is likely to be dubbed as Realme GT 2 Fold. This sketch of the upcoming Realme GT 2 Fold is floating across the internet on various social media platforms. These design images have been revealed by a Realme Design Studio artist with the name of Yani. Later, these images were reposted by the popular leaker Ice Universe.

Moreover, these rough images of the foldable phone have revealed the design and key specifications of the upcoming Realme mobile phone. One of the key highlights of the upcoming Realme GT flagship could be an under-display camera. These images showcase a design which is similar to the design of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Series.

Realme Foldable phone similar to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold:

According to these images, a hinge is being located on the opposite side which allows the smartphone to fold and to open right up. It also includes a full-fledged cover display with a punch-hole for the camera. The Realme foldable phone could bring a radical change in the current smartphone market. Although, it is not confirmed if this is the final design of the upcoming foldable phone from Realme. But this rough sketch gives an idea of what to expect.

Recently, the Realme CMO Xu Qi Chase hints at the company’s plans for next year via Chinese microblogging website, Weibo. In this post, he added that in 2022 the under-display camera smartphones and foldables will become more popular. He believes that these technologies will further mature in 2022. With his statement, we can expect the first foldable phone and the first phone with under-display camera from the company to launch next year.

Earlier in November, Chase shared an image of a smartphone with no visible notch and punch hole for selfie camera. At that time, it was speculated that an under-display selfie camera is being developed by Realme. Now, the sketch design of the foldable phone from Realme is floating all around the internet.

Realme Foldable Phone: Specs (Expected)

Keep in mind, Realme GT 2 Fold is just a concept phone. Currently, we don’t know if the smartphone will go official or not. However, as per render images, the upcoming Realme GT 2 Fold could support a 6.5-inch AMOLED cover display and an 8-inch fully stretched AMOLED panel inside. Both the display could support a punch-hole.

  • Camera:

As per images, these punch-hole could be positioned at the top-right corner. As for the rear camera setup, the back panel will feature a horizontal camera module.   • Other Features:

For device security, the Realme Fold smartphone is likely to feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The bottom edge of the smartphone is likely to come with a USB Type-C port along with a speaker grille. The smartphone could look like a conventional smartphone although a bit taller when folded. Realme GT 2 Fold: Price (Expected)

Realme’s foldable, GT 2 Fold could be one of the major foldable devices at an affordable price point. Realme Design Studio hints that the upcoming foldable smartphone could cost around USD 1200 which is approximately Rs 89200. This is aggressive price as compared to the launch price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Motorola Moto Razr 5G. To recall, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with a launch price of Rs 149999. Whereas, the Motorola Moto Razr 5G comes with a launch price of Rs 109000.

Foldable smartphones from other brands:

Meanwhile, there is no information about the processor, battery and rest of the features of the upcoming Realme GT 2 Fold. It still remains questionable, if Realme would call it a foldable smartphone. In China, Realme’s rival Xiaomi is already selling its foldable smartphone. Samsung is also having a wide range of foldable smartphones in its portfolio. The popularity of Samsung Foldable smartphone increases with the launch of each new model.

Besides Realme, Oppo is reportedly planning to launch its first foldable smartphone. Oppo Foldable smartphone is likely to launch later this month. The Oppo phone could launch with Snapdragon 888 SoC, a 2K display. The Oppo device could feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 4500mAh battery and much more.
