Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: Initial Impressions
With the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro launch at the Galaxy Unpacked Event 2022, we are entering a war between major players like Samsung, Apple, and Google. With its excellent audio quality, the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro will stand against the Apple AirPods, Google Pixel Buds, and other earbuds from different companies. After multiple TWS earbuds reviews, we have seen many user-convenient features like one-touch setup, automatic device switching, head-tracking spatial audio, and many more. These features may have attracted many consumers to buy their favorite buds from a particular brand based on their pocket. But with its pricing of USD 229 in the US markets, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will be the first to offer a superior sound experience.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: Unboxing
The all-new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro comes with a new updated design. By connecting the Galaxy Buds2 Pro to any Samsung Phone, we can get the wireless streaming option with 24-bit Hi-Fi audio. Different audio streaming apps like Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, and others offer lossless and high-resolution music. According to Samsung, this results in far richer audio and a better listening experience than its predecessor.
New Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro comes inside a Black themed retail square shape box packaging. On the top of the retail box, we can see the TWS Galaxy earbuds and Samsung branding embossed on the bottom half of the box. There are some important features mentioned on the rear of the retail box. On opening up the box, we get a standard quick start guide. Additionally, there is a USB-C charging cable and uniquely packed extra ear tips.

These extra ear tips come in different sizes; you can replace the real ones with ear tips that perfectly fit your ears. Lastly, we get the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro inside the wireless charging case. The wireless charging case gets a matte finish to it. This Samsung Galaxy Buds charging case gets the USB Type-C port for charging and wireless charging support.
Furthermore, there is a charging status indicator right below the flap of the charging case. Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: Design
In terms of design, the newly launched Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is 15 percent smaller than the original Galaxy Buds Pro. The TWS earbuds and the charging case now have a matte soft-touch coating. I personally like this kind of design over glossy plastic. With a matte finish, the charging case remains smudge-free. Furthermore, this kind of design offers an easier grip.
The new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are lighter with a 5.5-gram weight for each earbud. These Galaxy earbuds have a bigger vent on the exterior for improved airflow. With such a design, these Samsung earbuds provide a comfortable wearing experience for long hours. Furthermore, the newly launched Galaxy Buds 2 Pro also maintains the same IPX7 water resistance rating as their predecessors.

Sound Quality
Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro offers fantastic sound quality. With dual-driver design and AKG tuning, these Galaxy Buds can give tough competition to Apple’s AirPods Pro. In terms of sound quality, the Samsung TWS earbuds can easily surpass the excellent Google Pixel Buds Pro and other TWS like Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless 3 and Sony WF-1000XM4. The newly launched TWS earbuds provide an excellent level of depth and detail. Overall, I was impressed with the wide soundstage of Samsung with these earbuds.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: Features
During the launch, Samsung says the new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro offers wireless audio streaming at 24-bit, 48kHz over Bluetooth with its seamless codec. However, the company is still less transparent about the bitrate of that audio.
For comparison, Sony’s LDAC codec has a peak speed of roughly 990kbps, which falls short of lossless CD quality. Although, Samsung does confirm that the Samsung Seamless Codec has a bitrate of up to 2304kbps, which equates to lossless, high-resolution audio.
Remember, this high-quality streaming works only with a Galaxy smartphone running on Android 8 and One UI 4.0 and above. Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro also sports Bluetooth LE Audio. Even though Samsung has not specified what benefits this Bluetooth version will bring. Active Noise Cancellation
The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature works satisfactorily on the newly launched Galaxy Buds 2 Pro TWS earbuds. Here, you will hear what is happening around you when you are not playing music.
It is possible because of the bigger air vents and extended comfort. Once you play the music, the background noise automatically fades away. Therefore, you will not notice any distractions while listening to music on the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.

Samsung Voice Detect
Another feature of the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro TWS earbuds is Samsung’s Voice Detect. This feature works the same as on the Sony headphones. With this feature, the earbuds can detect whenever I speak. As it detects me speaking, the earbuds will automatically enter transparency mode, and the volume level drops for a configurable amount of time.

Other Audio Features
Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro also gets Transparency Mode. This mode works quite well with these TWS earbuds. Even if these TWS does not offer the same natural-sounding quality as the Apple AirPods. Also Read – Redmi Note 11E, Redmi Note 11E Pro officially debuts in China: Price, Specifications
The newly launched Galaxy Buds 2 Pro also gets a spatial audio feature. It shifts the soundscape as I turn from side to side. This feature offers 360-audio while watching video content. Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro also gets tap controls that pause a track while adjusting an earbud.
The Tap control feature can be oversensitive at times. Unfortunately, no auto-pause feature is available on the Galaxy buds 2 Pro. It means that the audio will keep playing even if we remove one of the earbuds from our ears.

How to connect Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro TWS earbuds?
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro TWS earbuds also work with Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app. The Samsung Galaxy Wearable app is only available for the Android platform. This app will allow users to customize sound EQ. Furthermore, this app can turn the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on and off.
-
Missing features
Besides these features, Samsung still lags in some categories. The newly launched Galaxy Buds 2 Pro misses the multipoint Bluetooth connectivity option, which is available on Google Pixel Buds Pro. This connectivity feature lets the TWS earbuds pair with two devices simultaneously. Although, the tech giant is offering a unique feature with its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.
The latest addition to the Samsung Galaxy Buds lineup, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, introduces a noteworthy feature that enables automatic switching between various Samsung-branded devices. This seamless transition extends to laptops, phones, tablets, smartwatches, and other compatible devices. While this functionality offers convenience to users within the Samsung ecosystem, it should be noted that it lacks the multipoint connectivity feature found in the Google Pixel Buds Pro.
-
Call Quality
Regarding call Quality, the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro will not be my top pick. The voice quality is not up to the mark on these earbuds. These TWS earbuds are traditional in everyday use; they can get the job done. Sony’s flagship TWS and Google Pixel Buds Pro edge out the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro in terms of mic quality. Final Verdict
Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is the best wireless earbuds from the company yet. Even though the company still can’t crack the winning formula in terms of sound quality, noise cancellation, and comfort. These Galaxy Buds2 Pro offers the greatest experience when used with a Samsung device. These TWS earbuds work decently with other Android smartphones.
Although limitations with Hi-Fi audio could be a drawback point for some users, when compared to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is just a superior overall pair of wireless earbuds. Despite the relatively short battery life, the Buds 2 Pro provides more features and higher audio quality while remaining true to Samsung’s Galaxy Buds family.
