Mi TV 40A Horizon Edition launches in India with no 4K support

Xiaomi has officially launched its Mi TV 40A Horizon Edition in India. The smart TV comes with new design and other smart features. However, the TV skips on 4K support.

Xiaomi Smart TV lineup in growing day by day with new additions. Few days back Xiaomi has launched its all-new Mi TV 40A Horizon Edition in India. The Smart TV launches as a successor to the last year’s Horizon Edition models. Also, this Xiaomi TV continues to skip the 4K resolution support. But the smart TV gets some top-of-the-line smart features which are present on more expensive siblings.

Xiaomi officially announce the Mi 40A Horizon Edition at a starting price of Rs 23999. The smart TV will be sold via both online and offline stores, Flipkart and other retail stores. The Xiaomi 40A Horizon Edition launches after the recently announced the Redmi TV series lineup. With the announcement of both Redmi TV and Mi TV lineup, the brand is looking to take over the more premium models’ segment. The Mi 40A Horizon Edition continues to feature similar spec sheet as the last year’s Mi TV 4A edition.

Xiaomi TV 40A Horizon Edition specs:

As per nomenclature, the all-new Mi TV 40A Horizon Edition will feature a 40-inch Full HD display. This display comes with 178 degree viewing angle along with 93.7 per cent screen to body ratio. However, the smart TV misses out on all important features such as Dolby Vision and HDR 10+. The Horizon Edition smart TV features a set of 20W stereo speakers along with DTS-HD support. Regarding connectivity options, the smart TV includes array of posts at the rear end. These connectivity port includes 3.5mm audio out, SPDIF, and three HDMI ports. During the launch event, Xiaomi did not mention about USB 2.0 ports availability. The Xiaomi Mi TV 40A Horizon Edition also gets Mi Quick Wake feature. This feature allows the smart TV to start in just 5 seconds. Additionally, there is a support for Quick Mute option. This Quick Mute can be activated by long pressing the volume down button on the remote controller.

Just like other Xiaomi TVs, the Mi TV 40A Horizon Edition also features the PatchWall experience which is based on Android TV OS version 9. Like other models, the Horizon Edition model also comes with all the popular features including e Universal Search, Kids Mode, Live Channels and Sports, Smart Recommendations, User Center, and Mi Home app. There is additional support to access the Google Play Store, Google Assistant, YouTube and Chromecast. During the launch event, Xiaomi did not clarify whether the old gen 4A Horizon Edition TV will continue to sell along side the new model. Currently, the new model comes in sole size of 40-inch.
