Poco C40: Unboxing
Poco C40, the most affordable Poco smartphone, comes in the usual Poco-style packaging. This Poco C series handset comes inside a yellow-black-themed box packaging. On the top of the box, we can see the Poco branding with the smartphone’s name. At the back of the retail box packaging, we can see some key specifications along with manufacturing and price details.
On opening the retail box, we get the Poco C40 mobile unit. Underneath the mobile unit, we get two separate compartments. In the first compartment, we get a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable, while in the other compartment, we get a standard 10W charger. Keep in mind that this handset still sports 18W fast charging. To manage some cost cuttings, the Chinese smartphone makers are offering the standard wall charger in the box. Also Read: Poco F3 Pro, Poco X3 Pro Global launch event details
Besides this, we also get some documentation and paperwork along with a SIM Tray ejector tool. Since it is a budget smartphone, the company is not providing any TPU case with a global unit. However, in Asian markets, the company might still offer a protective case with the Poco C40 handset.
Poco C40: Design
At first look at the handset, we can see some of the specs of the phone listed on the top of the display. Physically, the new Poco C40 is a fairly large handset to hold in a single hand, and it sports a massive 6.71-inch HD+ Display. On the top of the display, this device does come with a teardrop shape notch, which Poco calls the Dot Drop Display Notch. The notch accommodates the selfie camera. The bezels around the display are fairly large and noticeable, and the bottom chin is also quite thick. Overall, the handset provides an 82 percent screen-to-body ratio. As per our experience, this handset is not recommended for users with small size hands. It will require stretching and maneuvering to reach every corner of the display, even for the normal hand users. Overall, it is a fairly tall device with a 20:9 aspect ratio.
Physical Design
The Poco C40 features a unique camera module on the rear side. This camera design makes it stands out quite a bit. The back body is built of plastic material with a textured finishing. Moreover, this texture finishing mimics fake leather. Such a design makes it more comfortable to hold in hand for a longer period. 6.71-inch display phone
The all-new Poco C40 gets this massive 6.71-inch display. As per officials, the Poco C40 display is the largest screen ever offered by the Poco up to this point. This display is an IPS LCD panel with a screen resolution of 1650*720 pixels, offering 268 PPI pixel density.

Additionally, the covering with Corning Gorilla Glass protection protects the display from scratches and smudges. As per our experience, what we liked about this massive display was its size. We liked this display while watching shows, movies, YouTube videos, and even scrolling through the apps. Resolution-wise, this display is not that bright, and we can easily see pixelation if we closely see the display. There is no support for a high refresh rate either, and it is just a plain old 60Hz display panel.
Considering it is the most affordable Poco phone, we can’t complain much about the Poco C40 display. It is still a decent display setup with a good viewing experience. For audio experience, the Poco C40 has a downward-facing speaker at the bottom of the phone. The audio experience is good on this smartphone, and it also seems to get pretty loud. New budget chipset on Poco C40
This new Poco C40 is powered by a new entry-level chipset from a relatively unfamiliar brand, JLQ Technologies. This JLQ JR510 chipset powers this Poco C series smartphone, which comes from the house of a Shanghai-based semiconductor manufacturing company. This processor is paired with either a 3GB or 4GB of RAM option. Also Read: Realme GT family will overtake the Realme X Series in India
In terms of storage, it comes with up to 64GB of onboard storage. The Poco handset also supports a storage expansion feature, and we can also add a microSD card of up to 1TB for storage expansion. The Poco C40 ships with Android 11 with MIUI 13 for Poco. We don’t know if or when we’ll see an Android 12 update on this Poco C series 6000mAh battery smartphone.
How’s the Performance?
Out of the box, we found Poco C40 performing a little better than what we expected from an entry-level smartphone with an unfamiliar chipset. Like any other Poco phone, we get a bunch of pre-installed junk apps, games, and other stuff. Luckily, we can uninstall them to protect our phones from spammy or junk notifications. Plus, we can immediately free up some of this phone’s very important storage space.
The MIUI 13 for Poco runs fairly well on this entry-level C40 smartphone. In our experience, we easily perform our daily tasks like calling, messaging, web browsing, etc., with this smartphone. This 6000 mAh battery phone is not recommended for hardcore gaming. We suggest you keep your apps close pretty quickly after use to free up some RAM and for smoother device running.
Massive 6000mAh battery on Poco C40
The massive 6000mAh battery is the biggest highlighting factor of this entry-level Poco C40 smartphone, and it is one of the largest batteries on any entry-level device. With this big battery capacity, we can easily expect two days of battery life with normal use. Also Read: Poco X3 Pro will be the new Poco Pro smartphone
Though, the in-box 10W charger is something that we are optimistic about. We recommend you opt for the 18W fast charger for faster charging, which will help significantly reduce the charging times. Being a budget phone, this 6000 mah battery mobile phone does not support wireless charging or other power features.
Dual Rear camera setup
Interestingly, Poco C40 mobile phone does come with just a dual-lens camera setup at the back. At first glance, it features a triple or quad-camera setup at the back. The primary lens is a 13mp sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, and the secondary lens is a 2MP depth sensor. Furthermore, the selfie camera is a 5MP shooter with an f/2.22 aperture lens.
Even with those fairly average hardware specifications, Poco offers a ton of features in the app that helps us to click some decent photographs. The camera app includes multiple new features not found on a budget segment smartphone. Additionally, the camera app on Poco C40 also gets Pro Mode, portrait mode, Night Mode, Time-lapse, HDR, etc. Also Read: Motorola Moto G60S, Moto G50 5G and Edge 20 Lite launching soon
In terms of video recording, we can record 1080p videos at a 30fps frame rate. We did not get any video stabilization feature or anything. In our experience, the actual results are way better than expected. Overall, the image quality is good; the colors are balanced, and the exposure is just right. We also get some details in the photos, obviously; we can’t get all details from a budget-level phone. Also Read: New low-cost phone, Poco C50 launching in India next week

Most people will probably notice the big display and the massive 6000 mAh battery.
