Microsoft Surface Duo 2 could launch this fall, to bring improved software, better cameras

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 is expected to launch this fall 2021, the phone is likely to feature improved cameras, faster chipset, and 5G connectivity.

The Microsoft Surface Duo, announced in August 2020, is a dual-screen smartphone designed for both business and consumer use. The device features two 5.6-inch touchscreen displays, which when unfolded, offer an 8.1-inch PixelSense Fusion Display. The display resolution is 1800 x 2700 pixels, with a 3:2 aspect ratio. According to reports, Microsoft is currently planning for the next generation Surface Duo 2.

Microsoft Surface Duo Specifications

The Surface Duo is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, offering high performance for all your tasks. It comes with 6GB of RAM and is available in two storage options: 128GB and 256GB. However, it does not have a card slot for additional storage.

For photography, the Surface Duo sports a single 11MP camera that can record 4K videos. This camera is used for both regular photos and selfies. The Surface Duo runs on Android 10, but it’s upgradable to Android 12. It packs a 3577mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. Recent reports indicate that the rumored Microsoft Surface Duo 2 surfaced online a fortnight ago. These reports also suggest a potential release for the new smartphone in Fall 2021. This API will enable developers to optimize the user experience by re-flowing it into the visible regions on the forthcoming successor to the Microsoft Surface Duo.

  1. Wireless Charging: The Surface Duo 2 is reportedly working on the Wireless Power Transfer support. This suggests the possibility of induction-based charging for the Surface Pen. Some users have also found ways to enable wireless charging on the Surface Duo 2 with affordable solutions.

Microsoft Upcoming Products

Reports suggest that the launcher may animate its bottom drawer to fit the available area, ensuring easy access to all applications for users. Microsoft officials have confirmed that the Surface Duo 2, Surface Laptop 4, and Surface Pro 8 are in the pipeline.

These Microsoft devices are likely to hit the market in October or November. The original Surface Duo debuts in September last year. Currently, Microsoft is offering additional discounts on this premium dual-screen smartphone in select markets.
