Mercedes Benz launched two new Luxury electric SUV models in India last week. These SUVs come as the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB Class and the Mercedes EQB. The latest offerings from the automakers sit above the GLA in the company’s lineup. It means that these electric cars are the most accessible seven-seater luxury SUVs. Mercedes Benz GLB and EQB SUV in India
Regarding the options, the Mercedes Benz GLB 2022 SUV in India comes with three models. The seven-seater SUV in India includes the Mercedes Benz GLB 200 (petrol), Mercedes Benz GLB 220d (diesel), and Mercedes Benz GLB 220d 4MATIC (diesel). It will be the first time Mercedes Benz has launched a petrol, a diesel and an all-electric variant simultaneously for the Indian market.
On the other hand, the automobile company also launched the Mercedes Benz EQB in India. The EQB Electric is also a seven-seater SUV by the company in India. As per information, the Mercedes Benz EQB is the third all-electric vehicle launched this year.

New Ultra-Fast Charging Points in India
Alongside the Mercedes Benz Electric SUV launch in India, the company also confirmed the setup of 30 ultra-fast charging points in India. Furthermore, the automakers are also planning to set up ten more ultra-fast charging stations across the country by the end of this year. Mercedes Benz believes that by the end of 2022, India will have more than 140 charging points across the country.
During the launch event, Mercedes Benz India said that the EQB customers would receive a complimentary AC wallbox. Regarding pricing, Mercedes Benz India confirmed that the GLB 200 Electric SUV would start at Rs 63.8 lakhs (ex-showroom) in India. Another model, the Mercedes Benz GLB 200D electric SUV, will start at Rs 66.8 lakhs (ex-showroom) in India. Alongside the GLB Electric SUVs, the automakers also announced the price for Mercedes Benz EQB Electric SUVs in India. Mercedes Benz GLB Features
The all-new Mercedes Benz GLB SUV comes with a versatile and dynamic appearance. The automakers claim that the GLB features a striking design, flexible seating positions, enough legroom and a load compartment. All these features make it an efficient urban-style SUV in India for daily use.
Mercedes GLB off-road capabilities also create a compelling proposition for a mid-range seven-seater luxury SUV in India. Front Design
The Mercedes-Benz GLB gets rectangular LED headlights starting from the front design. Furthermore, the front bonnet also gets a flat design with minimal body outlines. With its boxy proportions, the latest luxury SUV in India receives a single-slat front grille. Since the Mercedes GLB comes in three variants:

Mercedes Benz GLB Engine
Mercedes India launched the GLB Luxury SUV in three distinct variants.
- Mercedes Benz GLB 200
- Mercedes Benz GLB 220D

The Benz GLB 220D and 220D 4MATIC SUV variants come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. It delivers 188bhp and 400Nm of peak torque. Here, the newly launched Mercedes GLB 220D 4MATIC succeeds the 2020 Mercedes Benz GLB 250 4MATIC.
Is GLB bigger than GLC?
As for the transmission choices, the petrol variant gets 7-speed automation while the diesel variant gets 8-speed dual-clutch automation. Mercedes claims that with this engine, the GLB electric SUV in India can reach from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 7.7 seconds. GLB series SUV offers a top speed of 217 km/hr. The Off-Road Engineering Package is also available in the 4MATIC variant; it adapts the engine’s power delivery and the ABS control for rough terrain.
Mercedes Benz EQB 4MATIC
The all-new Mercedes Benz EQB is another SUV to launch alongside the GLB Luxury SUV in India. The Mercedes EQB is an electric model with similar features and feels just like the GLB SUV in India. It carries several design elements and features from the petrol and diesel-powered variants of GLB.
This newly launched 4MATIC Electric SUV in India joins the GLB Series. It features a Mercedes-EQ blacked-out closed-off grille with a central star. Front and Rear Design
In the Mercedes Benz EQB variant, a horizontal LED strip connects above the headlights. The overall design of the Mercedes Benz EQB 4MATIC is entirely different as it showcases the EV series from the brand. Starting with the front design, the front looks similar to the EQC EUV. The newly launched EQB 4MATIC SUV in India also gets a closed front grille and small air dams.

Like the Mercedes Benz GLB, India’s EQB 4MATIC all-electric SUV gets a dual-screen setup. Here, both screens measure 10.25-inch. The latest electric SUV features a memory function, ambient lighting, a wireless charging solution and a USB Type-C port. The EQB Electric SUV in India also supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
Cabin Design
Overall, the dimensions and the wheelbase of the EQB 4MATIC Mercedes Benz Electric SUV are the same as the GLB variant. Although, the maximum boot capacity is less than the GLB model. Mercedes Benz EQB 4MATIC gets a boot space of 1620 litres. Like the Mercedes GLB, the EQB 4MATIC variant also offers 3-row seating with a unique rear design appeal. This third row is ideal for families with kids and pets.

Mercedes Benz EQB 4MATIC Engine
The EQB 300 4MATIC has two motors, an asynchronous motor and a newly developed permanently excited synchronous motor in the rear axle. India’s all-new Mercedes Benz EQB electric SUV model comes with two various battery output options.
Here, the first battery option model can offer a peak power of 228bhp and a 390Nm of peak torque. At the same time, the Second battery option model of EQB 4MATIC can generate a peak power of 292bhp with a 520Nm of peak torque. Mercedes Benz EQB 4MATIC Electric SUV in India also has an all-wheel drive system. This EQB 4MATIC SUV is fitted with a lithium-ion battery with a high energy density. Battery Charging speed

Mercedes Benz is offering an eight-year warranty on the battery pack. Similarly, Benz GLB also gets an eight-year warranty on the engine and transmission. Both SUVs come to India as Completely Built Units (CBU). The automakers acknowledged that bookings for the Mercedes Benz GLB and EQB had been accepted for some time. The deliveries for the Luxury SUV GLB and EQB in India will begin soon.
