Kia Motors to launch EV6, the first electric car in India by June 2022

Kia Motors is all set to introduce the 2022 Kia EV6 as its first electrified offering in the country. Kia EV, the crossover, is likely to launch as the new 2022 electric vehicle in June this year. Meanwhile, there is no official confirmation about the launch of the 2022 electric car Kia EV6 in India by Kia Motors. As per the report from Autocar India, the EV6 is a midsize, compact SUV based on a fully electrified platform. The report claims that these electric vehicles could launch with high specifications.

Recently, an undisguised Kia EV6 was sighted on the roads of Hyderabad, indicating that the launch date is approaching. Moreover, it’s possible that the new electric vehicle is being tested on Indian roads.

The Kia-Hyundai alliance must serve as a launchpad for several other electric vehicles from Kia Motors and Hyundai. These variants are also likely to launch as a single motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD).

According to reports, the RWD variant of the EV6 offers 170hp. At the same time, the dual-motor AWD variant can bump the power up to 235hp. These power figures for the Kia EV can reach when the electric car gets with the base 58kWh battery pack. Moreover, Kia Motors offers another option to upgrade to a higher spec 77.4kWh battery pack.

With a bigger battery pack, the single motor Kia EV 2022 on the RWD variant delivers 229hp. However, when paired with the dual-motor configuration from the AMD variant, it will deliver 325hp of power. A GT Line grade on the Kia EV, comparable to the sporty GT lineup of the Kia Sonet and Kia Seltos. The dual-motor will also benefit the AWD variants with a strong 585hp and 740Nm of peak torque.

As for the features, the upcoming Kia EV6 will get connected car technology, an all-new two-spoke starring wheel design. Kia Motors also offers an augmented reality heads-up display (HUD) and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) mainly for safety. The EV6 electric car will also get a dual-screen layout. In this layout, one screen is for the driver instrument cluster. At the same time, the other screen is for the infotainment system.
