We can see the “12” number in bold font on the top of the box packaging, with Xiaomi branding also present on one side, and the text is highlighted in copper color. After opening the box packaging, we get the mobile unit on the top along with some documentation, a SIM ejection tool, and good quality Xiaomi 12 Pro case. Furthermore, the box also includes a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter. It is because the handset misses out on the 3.5mm headphone jack. Meanwhile, it feels good to see the headphone adapter within the box. However, most brand skips this USB Type-C to a 3.5mm headphone adapter.
In addition, we also get a massive and heavy charging brick. This adapter is a 120W original Xiaomi charger that also comes directly inside the box. Additionally, there is a good quality USB Type-A to Type-C cable for charging and data transfer. Let’s check out the design of the new Xiaomi 12 series smartphone.
We get the Opera Mauve color review unit. The Opera Mauve color is a bluish pinkish gradient shade, a stunning and different color setup. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with a slim metal frame sandwiched between the two sheets of glass. The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protect the front glass sheet. At the same time, the rear glass also gets protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Both the front and the rear glass panels get curved sides. Thus, making it easy for the users to grip the flagship smartphone. However, the smartphone feels slippery in the hands. Overall, the in-hand feel is good, and the weight distribution is also good. The build quality is also decent.
Xiaomi 12 Pro: Specifications
The latest Xiaomi 12 Pro is a dual-SIM Nano Android smartphone. Meanwhile, this smartphone runs on Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top. Based on our experience with this smartphone, the smartphone seems to have most of the Android 12 features. One of the drawbacks is that even being the flagship smartphone, the device also comes with some pre-installed third-party apps. These third-party apps will also send unwanted spammy notifications. Luckily, we can uninstall most of these apps.
The smartphone gets a large 6.72-inch WQHD+ E5 AMOLED display with gentle curves on the left and right corners. This Xiaomi display also gets a screen resolution of 1440*3200 pixels. Furthermore, this display is based on the second-generation LTPO technology. This display will offer a dynamic refresh rate between 1Hz to 120Hz. Meanwhile, we can also set the dynamic range ourselves varying from 60, 90, and 120Hz.
Xiaomi claims that this display can reach a peak brightness of up to 1500 nits. Additionally, it also gets support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. This certification also makes this phone well suited for streaming HDR videos. In addition to this, the flagship smartphone also gets a quad-speaker setup. Harman Kardon has tuned this speaker setup. Additionally, a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protect Xiaomi 12 Pro display. Moreover, the bezels on display are thin. Meanwhile, the front camera sits inside the center punch-hole on the top of the display.

Xiaomi 12 series smartphone also carries 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and the internal storage does not support storage expansion.
The current flagship Xiaomi 12 Pro features a triple rear camera configuration in terms of optics. A 50MP Sony IMX707 primary sensor headlines this camera setup with an f/1.8 aperture. Furthermore, the primary sensor supports Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The secondary camera is a 50MP ultra-wide shooter, and this ultra-wide camera also gets a 115-degree field of view (FoV). At the same time, the third lens is a 50MP telephoto lens. The telephoto lens also enables 2x optical zoom. But this Telephoto lens skips on Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with a 32MP selfie camera sensor with an f/2.45 aperture for selfies and video calling. The rear camera also supports up to 8K video recording at a 24fps frame rate for videos. Regarding other camera features, the Pro variant also includes Xiaomi ProFocus, Portrait Night Mode, Portrait HDR, and Photo Clone. Furthermore, these features are Xiaomi ProFocus motion tracking, Ultra Night video, One-Click AI Cinema, and cinematic video filters for video recording.
Based on our experience, the images clicked with the Xiaomi 12 Pro turned out to be very good. Even the Sony IMX707 sensor also works perfectly with this Xiaomi handset. The ultra-wide camera sensor is also decent. However, the field of view (FoV) is less on this ultra-wide sensor than on other premium smartphones. The telephoto lens can click some good shots, but it skips on the optical image stabilization.
When it comes to the selfie camera sensor, the 32MP camera can take some great pictures. The skin tone is good, and the color accuracy is also perfect. Even the dynamic range is also good on this Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone. Surprisingly, both the front and rear cameras can click good photos in low-light conditions. Overall, the camera unit on this Pro variant is one of the best from the company yet.
Regarding connectivity options, the Xiaomi 12 Pro includes 5G, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 6e, and Bluetooth v5.2. It also gets GPS/A-GPS/ NaVIC for navigation. Other connectivity option also includes Infrared IR Blaster, NFC, and the USB Type-C port. The global variant of Xiaomi 12 Pro also gets 14 5G bands. Meanwhile, we can expect the same 5G bands on this device. Furthermore, it also supports Wi-Fi calling functionality.
Similarly, the Xiaomi 12 Pro includes an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer, and proximity sensor for onboard sensors. For device security, the Xiaomi smartphone also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Furthermore, this in-display fingerprint sensor doubles up as the heart rate sensor.

With a 120W original Xiaomi charger, Xiaomi also claims that the device can fully charge in Boost Mode in just 18 minutes. Remember that this kind of charging is only possible in ideal conditions. Meanwhile, it is not possible to achieve such fast charging in daily life. However, in our testing, the smartphone charged from 2 percent to 100 percent in 24 minutes. Furthermore, it also supports 10W reverse wireless charging. Meanwhile, this Xiaomi phone measures 163.6×74.6×8.16mm and weighs 205 grams.
Talking about other features, the Xiaomi 12 Pro also gets Widevine L1 support. There is no IP certification for water and dust resistance. Moreover, the SAR value is also within limits on the Pro variant smartphone. Additionally, there is no notification LED on the smartphone and no FM Radio support.
Xiaomi 12 Pro: Final Verdict
Xiaomi Pro variant is a premium smartphone that starts at Rs 62999 in India. Furthermore, the latest Xiaomi 12 series smartphone looks the part of a proper flagship. Design-wise, the Xiaomi 12 Pro looks premium and classy. Meanwhile, in terms of Display, Camera, and connectivity features, the latest Xiaomi smartphone justifies the Protag.
However, it still misses out on one crucial feature. This missing feature is an official IP rating for dust and water resistance. Henceforth, it is strange to see such a premium phone missing such an essential feature. Meanwhile, even the budget phone from Redmi and Xiaomi come with IP ratings. But this Xiaomi phone’s missing feature could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
