Realme GT 2 is the name of the second iteration of the Realme GT series. It comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Let’s look at the all-new Realme GT 2 smartphone.

Realme GT 2 Mobile

Realme India silently launched the new Realme GT 2 in India. The latest Realme GT 2 mobile is the toned-down version of Realme GT2 Pro, launched earlier this month. The Chinese smartphone brand is offering some fundamental changes on the vanilla variant compared to the Realme GT 2 Pro and the Realme GT Neo 2.

However, the company has tried to keep the same design and aesthetics on the Realme GT 2 and the Realme GT2 Pro. Moreover, some of the design and specification features are the same as the Realme GT 2 Neo. The significant difference we noticed is the use of last year’s flagship Snapdragon 888 on the latest Realme GT 2 smartphone.

Furthermore, the Realme GT 2 mobile also gets a slightly downgraded display compared to Realme GT 2 Pro. Moreover, the Realme GT 2 has a 120Hz AMOLED display, a triple rear camera setup, and a paper tech master design. The same Paper Tech Master Design is already present on the Realme GT2 Pro.

Realme GT 2: Design

The back panel design of the latest Realme GT 2 mobile phone is precisely the same as the Realme GT2 Pro. Compared with the Realme GT Neo 2, the back panel is the same even if the camera module is similar and in the same position. Furthermore, the button placement, charging dock, and SIM tray positioning are also exact as on the Realme GT Neo 2.

Biodegradable material on Realme GT 2 Mobile

According to Realme, the back panel of the Realme GT 2 is made of biodegradable plastic. Nearly 70% of the material on the back panel is biodegradable, making the latest Realme handset more environmentally friendly. On paper, Realme states that it comes with a Paper Cut Tech Design.

Realme GT 2: Physical Design

Talking about the button placements and other modules, the Realme GT 2 mobile comes with a punch-hole design on the front. The top edge of the smartphone features a secondary noise cancellation microphone, and the right edge gets the power on/off button. The volume rockers are present on the left edge. Realme GT 2: Display

The latest Realme GT 2 gets the same Samsung E4 display panel as available on the Realme GT2 Neo. Both smartphones get 120Hz refresh rate support. Also, we get the bright HDR support on the Realme GT 2 mobile phone. For improvements, the Realme GT 2 receives a video motion enhancement feature missing on the Realme GT 2 Neo. Overall, the Realme GT 2 display is almost the same as the one we already saw on the last year’s Realme GT 2 Neo.

Realme GT 2: Software

The all-new Realme GT 2 comes with Realme UI 3.0 skin, a custom skin on top of Android 12. Moreover, the latest Realme mobile phone also gets a Dynamic RAM expansion feature. With Android 12 out of the box, we can expect to get at least Android 13 and Android 14 updates in the next two years. Furthermore, Realme will also push three years of security updates. In terms of other similarities, both the Realme GT 2 and Realme GT 2 Neo get similar speaker placement with Dolby Atmos support.

Realme GT 2: Performance

In terms of performance, Realme has incorporated significant changes with Realme GT 2 mobile phone. Like Xiaomi, Realme has also launched three smartphones in the same price range and feature-wise, and Xiaomi offers Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12, and Xiaomi 12 Pro. Similarly, Realme gets Realme GT 2 Neo, Realme GT 2, and Realme GT2 Pro. Here, we are talking about the Realme GT 2.

Realme GT 2 series will compete against the Xiaomi 12 series
Realme GT 2 series will compete against the Xiaomi 12 series

The latest Realme GT 2 mobile comes with last year’s flagship Snapdragon 888. Whereas Xiaomi 12 comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. As per our experience, the Chinese smartphone brand tried to make some profits by offering last year’s flagship. However, the previous year’s flagship Snapdragon 888 still performs exceptionally well.

We did not notice any lags or any heating issues in our usage. Realme offers the most prominent Stainless Steel Vapour Cooling Chamber on the latest Realme GT 2 smartphone, and it could be one of the significant reasons behind no heating issues.

Realme GT 2: Camera

In comparison with Realme GT2 NEO, the latest Realme GT 2 mobile gets much improved cameras. A 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor headlines the rear camera unit. The secondary camera is an 8MP wide-angle lens, and the third is a 2MP macro sensor. We have tested the same sensors on the OnePlus 9RT, Xiaomi 12X, and others. Furthermore, all three sensors are capable of clicking exceptionally well-balanced images.

Image Quality

Talking about the camera performance based on the samples we clicked. Realme GT 2 mobile can click excellent photos considering its price. Sharpness, Details, Edge Detection, and everything is quite good on the images we clicked with this latest Realme handset. We also noticed some slight oversaturation in the photos, which could be due to the company’s ROM and camera app.

However, with little back and forth with future updates, Realme can take photography to the next level on this Realme GT 2 smartphone. Also Read – Realme GT Neo with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC

Optical Image Stabilization

This Sony IMX sensor performed exceptionally well in indoor conditions. In an artificial lighting situation, we can easily click some decent images. The photographs appear good in most cases, and slight noise is also noticeable in most situations. Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is another significant change in the Realme GT 2 smartphone camera. Realme is also showcasing this OIS branding on the camera module and Matrix camera branding.

Other Camera Features

The dynamic range and color accuracy are good in outdoor photography. Photos clicked on this phone offer natural colors. For selfies, Realme GT 2 gets a 16MP selfie camera, and it is the same as the one we have already seen on the Realme GT2 Neo. The selfies from the 16MP camera come out to be decent. Taking about videos, with OIS support, the videos appear to be smoother and sharper. OIS is one of the company’s essential parts of this smartphone. The video quality is excellent, and mostly it will record natural-looking videos.

The other two rear cameras are nothing special. Meanwhile, the 8MP ultra-wide sensor is nothing to talk about; it clicks below average photos for the users. We wished Realme could have substituted this 8MP with the 16MP ultra-wide sensor, and we did not notice significant changes.

Realme GT 2: Battery

Realme GT 2 gets the same capacity battery as the Realme GT 2 Neo smartphone, and the charging capacity is also the same. The 65W Realme charger can charge up this smartphone in about 30 minutes from 0 to 90 percent. In about 35-40 minutes, the smartphone can charge entirely from 0 to 100 percent.

The rear side of Realme GT 2 is almost same as the one on Realme GT 2 Pro, Realme GT Neo 2

FYI, the charging rate of the SuperDart Charger remains constant even if we turn the screen on or off. Overall, the charging experience is good on this smartphone. The battery backup on this Realme GT 2 smartphone is also decent. We can easily run the phone for two days on a single charge with regular usage. The smartphone can run for around 20-24 hours with heavy use. Realme also offers a GT Mode for super enhancement like a 60Hz refresh rate and more. It will provide more battery backup. We got a screen-on-tine (SoT) of around 4 and 1/2 hours on our usage. The SoT is average because we have used GPS for almost 4-5 hours.

Final Verdict

Overall, Realme GT 2 is a good mobile phone with premium features. Considering the price point, it can give tough competition to its competitors like the OnePlus 10R, Xiaomi 12, and others.
