Scorpio-N City Mileage on Petrol Automatic Variant

Mahindra is yet to reveal the officially claimed fuel efficiency figures for the all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 SUV. Also Read: Dyson V15 Detect cordless vacuum cleaner in India; initial review

During our drive in the city and highways, we got the overall indicative fuel efficiency of 9.5kmpl. These figures will be different for a different engine with both manual and automatic transmission. Also Read: Upcoming Samsung Smartphone with 5000mAh battery
Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 performance
Despite being a petrol engine, the peak torque of the Mahindra Scorpio-N petrol is almost equal to the diesel variant. During our test drive, while the SUV cruised at 100kmph, the engine was revving under 2000 rpm. This means that the machine was well within its peak torque band. Furthermore, the power band remains within the peak range at this high speed. Thus, allowing us to make quick overtakes if necessary.Â

The engine is highly responsive, even at low speeds. The 6-speed TC automatic transmission usually shifts at around 2000rpm. Additionally, the driver can take manual controls simply by slotting the gear lever in manual mode. Overall, the engine performance of the Mahindra Scorpio-N petrol variant is more than enough for a typical buyer. Despite beginning with a body-on-frame chassis, the Scorpio-N 2022 SUV handles everything quite well.
Mahindra Scorpio-N Ride Quality
The all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N is a body-on-frame SUV. Out of all the variants, the petrol variant gets the option of rear-wheel drive. Additionally, the latest 2022 SUV is also capable of doing mild-off-roading. The SUV has a typical ladder-on-frame, which could compromise the vehicle’s stability. In the diesel variant, the base model of the Scorpio-N comes with electric steering. As a result, the steering feels relatively light. Furthermore, credit can be given to this light-feel steering for a comfortable ride. Primarily, this light steering is a boon in the city traffic and while parking. While driving on highways, the handling of the Scorpio-N is perfect while changing lanes at high speeds.
Mahindra Scorpio-N handling
On hilly roads, Scorpio-N can confidently tackle hill turns at around 30-40kmph. In our experience, there was nose dive during heavy breaking, but it was not very prominent. Furthermore, the braking system is robust and feels confident while accelerating. Also Read: 200W fast charge technology from Xiaomi will charge smartphone in just 8 minutes

Mahindra Scorpio sitting experience
The latest Scorpio-N comes with frequency selective dampers. These dampers try to maintain composure inside the cabin on uneven roads. While the Scorpio-N is comfortable over most inconsistencies. Even on paved roads, we noticed a continuous but minor up-and-down movement inside the cabin. This movement could be seen on both the seat and the floor. This may cause fatigue during long drives and make it uncomfortable for people suffering from motion sickness.
Our ride on the Mahindra Scorpio-N petrol variant is quite comfortable for the most part. The latest Scorpio powertrain combines a rugged off-roader and an urban SUV. It is capable enough to handle bad roads easily and sophisticated sufficient for comfortable city driving. Mahindra Scorpio: Interior Design
Mahindra Scorpio-N is a tall vehicle. Getting in and out of the all-new SUV would not be an easy task for older adults. Thankfully, the Indian automakers have provided a side step and grab handles on all the doors. At the same time, the short people will have to climb down the SUV literally.
Design-wise, the new Scorpio-N comes with dual-tone black and brown interiors. The roof lining comes in a beige shade. The dashboard is mainly designed from hard plastic material. Although, there is a leather trim in the middle with beige stitching. The center console is excellent. At the same time, the fitment of the glovebox is average.

Storage Space
Meanwhile, the glovebox is illuminated and cooled. It can fit a 2-liter bottle along with other user manual documents. Regarding additional storage space, the latest SUV includes areas like bottle holders on the front doors. Furthermore, it also gets a storage space under the front armrest. This space under the armrest can easily fit a phone and a key.
In the rear-wheel-drive variants, there are two cupholders ahead of the armrest. In contrast, the 4-wheel-drive variant gets one cupholder and an off-road mode selector. Ahead of the gear lever, there is a wireless charger. Additionally, we also get 2 USB ports nearby the wireless charger. The controls for the dual-zone auto AC and infotainment system are placed right above.

Infotainment System on Scorpio-N
The all-new Mahindra Scorpio gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment system will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touch response of the screen is excellent. However, considering the size of the latest SUV, we would like a more prominent display like the Mahindra XUV series.
The top variant of Mahindra Scorpio-N for audio support comes with a 12-speaker surround system. The audio output of these speakers is immersive. Besides the speakers on the doors, the latest Scorpio also gets speakers on the roof for a 3D surround sound experience. The top variant also gets the infotainment system controls on the steering wheel.
Furthermore, the steering wheel also gets Cruise control buttons. The flat-bottom steering wheel comes with leather wrapping. It can also be useful for accessing the instrument cluster. The semi-digital MID shows other information like fuel-related info, digital speed, vehicle info, navigation settings, etc.
Front Seats
The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable. It also gets manual lumbar support. Other driver facilities include electrically adjustable ORVMs, day/ night IRVM, front armrests, auto wipers, etc. The top-rated variant of Scorpio-N also gets an electric sunroof. Comfort level
In terms of sitting experience, the front seat of the latest Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 SUV is quite comfortable. However, the dead pedal position is not appropriate. Both front seats get a plethora of adjustments. Furthermore, the tilt adjustment also comes in pair with the steering. Rear Seats: Second Row
Adjusting the second row of the latest Mahindra Scorpio could be a difficult task. However, the side steps help the passenger to enter the second row of Scorpio-N. Although, the second-row seats offer an adequate amount of knee room. The legroom is also enough both for tall and short people. Additionally, a taller person can slide their feet under the front seats.
The headroom space is also decent enough for the rear passengers. It could be mainly due to the step-up roof. The seven-seat variant of the latest Mahindra Scorpio gets a bench-type seat in the second row. The Indian automaker also offers a top-notch Scorpio-N with a six-seat configuration. This variant gets two individual captain seats in the second row.
One of the seats on the left side is reclinable. Thus, making the long journeys more comfortable. Although, the seats do not slide. Therefore, the space in the second and third rows is standard. Also Read: Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) smart display with multi-room control launched in India

Armrests in the second row
The bench seat comes with an almost flat design. It offers good back support. The central tunnel does not affect the cabin much. Henceforth, three passengers can easily sit in the second row. The center armrest is firm. However, it could be uncomfortable for the middle passenger. Remember, this second row gets two adjustable and one fixed headrest.
The Indian automakers have also provided some comfort and convenience features for the rear passengers. These features include AC vents for airflow, a Type-C charging port, rear seat back pocket with a phone holder. The window area is ample for the rear passenger. Furthermore, the cabin does not feel claustrophobic. Also Read: Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S with new purple colour option to debut soon

Rear Seats: Third Row
The middle row seat can be folded and tumbled to allow the passenger to enter the third row. The side step outside and the footrest make it easy for the passenger to slide into the third row. However, it can be uneasy for adult passengers to get in and out of the third row. Also Read: Microsoft Surface Pro 8 launched with Surface Slim Pen 2
Furthermore, the third-row passenger cannot make tumble lever adjustment of the second row from behind. The passenger sitting in the third row will always need assistance getting in and out of the Scorpio-N. The Scorpio-N has front-facing bench seats, which significantly improves over the old Scorpio’s side-facing seats. When compared to side-facing seats, front-facing seats are safer and more comfortable. The Mahindra SUV’s third row seats do not have a 50:50 split function.
Legroom Space
Unlikely, the knee and leg room space in the third row is also under limits. In our experience, the third-row seats could be uncomfortable for adult passengers during long drives. The comfort features are also less in the third-row seats. These features include a 12V socket, small armrests, and a mobile phone holder on either side. Since the AC vents in the second row are present below, it fails to cool down the third row efficiently. A dedicated AC vent and USB socket are highly required in the third row of the latest Mahindra Scorpio-N. Also Read: Asus ROG Phone 6, ROG Phone 6 Pro with up to 18GB RAM launched; full review
Overall, the latest Mahindra Scorpio-N cannot run as a 7-seater in specific scenarios. We think the latest Mahindra SUV 2022 could be a comfortable car for a family of 4 adults and a kid. This will free up space in the boot for their luggage. The new Mahindra SUV could also have used an auto-dimming IRVM, a more extensive touchscreen infotainment system. Furthermore, the latest SUV could have also used the sliding second and third-row AC vents, and more USB ports.
Mahindra Scorpio-N and its competitors
Considering the body style, size, and price range of the Mahindra Scorpio-N, it competes with the following cars:
- Hyundai Alcazar
- Mahindra XUV700 7-seater
- MG Hector Plus
- Tata Safari
